Admit it — your first thought after seeing pictures of the devastation left by Superstorm Sandy was, “Where’s Spike Lee?” No? Well, Lee did have quite a bit to say when Hurricane Katrina struck, and he directed the Katrina documentary “When the Levees Broke” for HBO. So yes, some are wondering where Lee is when his childhood home of Brooklyn is cleaning up after Sandy.

It turns out Lee is in New Orleans, shooting a remake of the Korean film “Oldboy.” He promises to return to Brooklyn to help with recovery efforts once that film wraps.

So Lee does get a pass for employing a film crew and bringing jobs to New Orleans.

It’s nice, too, that for once a conversation involving Spike Lee managed not to involve race. Oh, wait. Would a white film director be hassled like this?

    Who the F cares?????

Hey, Spike. They have this thing called electronic bank transfers now. You don’t even need to actually go to Brooklyn. Just send your emm effin cash!

“how is spike supposed to provide for himself”
Funny. You might want to ask how a lot of business owners are going to do the same.

It’s so arrogant of him to just say “Yea, you can wait until next month, I’m busy!!” Like that movie is his only income and if he left for a day to help his “beloved Brooklyn” he’d be broke tomorrow. he’s like everyone else who snubs their fans (I am not one of his) and acts like they’re beneath them. Where do you think you got your money from??? if I had millions I’d be sending checks and hiring crews to go there if I could. I’m from Brooklyn and I love where I come from. I just hate celebs who act like they’re better than everyone else when they make some money. Write a check for crying out loud….

I don’t think you have any idea how big is Brooklyn?

  • AlertUpUSA

Pay up, dude. You are now a 1%-er.
Your movie budgets will be required to pay Obamacare taxes, fee, and assessments. Also if any one actually needs health care, there WILL be a wait.

Why don’t you make a movie about THAT and the socialization of the New America….”brotha”?

Yes, my first thought when I heard about Hurricane Sandy was “Where is Spike?” Actually, my every thought of everyday is consumed with wondering where on Earth is Spike Lee and not about important matters like God, petty money, worrying about family and friends, our troops, the future of the U.S. and the world, etc.. /sarc/

    Hmmmmmm…. Spike Lee?

    You mean Shelton Jackson Lee?

Who made headlines almost thirty years ago and was heralded by all the liberal papers as ‘The Black Woody Allen’ with his direction of ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ back in 1986. And hasn’t directed a decent film that made noticeable money since ‘Do The Right Thing’ and ‘Malcolm X’

    That Shelton Jackson Lee?!!!

Cut a check and send it by Western Union!

Most of your old friends from Bed~Stuy probably aren’t in the mood to receive visitors right now. Much less so in mid December.

Just send cash? Don’t talk trash. Where’s the photo-op in that?
