If the Internet has taught us anything, it’s that Chuck Norris is tough. How tough?

In a recent article on shooting enthusiast site Ammoland, Norris takes the fight to Boy Scouts of America board member Jim Turley, suggesting that the Ernst & Young CEO’s close ties with the Obama administration are behind efforts to overturn a BSA policy banning gay Scouts and leaders.

In a massive reversal of Twitterverse policy, Norris is now on the receiving end of a flurry of roundhouse kicks.

For what it’s worth, Norris’ stance on homosexuality is well-known to those paying attention; he was vocally involved in debates over California’s Proposition 8. The Ammoland piece currently causing an uproar is more concerned with the connections between the Obama administration and the Boy Scouts. Says Norris:

Is it a coincidence that a couple of months ago, Obama reversed his position on marriage, extending the union to gay couples, and that Turley just came out of the closet in his position against the BSA’s position?

It seems the vast majority on Twitter aren’t concerned with any conspiracy Norris may have uncovered, though. Support of the gay ban is more than enough to pick a fight. Norris is tough, but is the meme tough enough to survive this?

That’s why my daughter won’t send her children to boys scouts. She’s afraid and does not trust them anymore. Imagine if gays where allowed, no decent parent would send them. That would be a definite end of what’s not so popular anymore.

Chuck Norris doesn’t swim. That’s just the water rushing by to get out of his way. I like how detractors have swerved from disliking his opinion to deciding he’s a “homophobe”. Because if you disagree with something, you’re afraid of it…?
