I love it when a member of Congress takes a field trip and accidentally says the quiet part out loud.
Wisconsin Democrat Gwen Moore hopped a flight to an ICE facility in Leavenworth, Kansas — not Milwaukee, not her district — to check on people she keeps calling her “constituents.”
That’s the part that stopped me cold.
Constituents.
In Kansas.
Held by ICE.
Really?
If they're her constituents, doesn't that mean they voted for her? And here I thought illegals weren't voting in our elections.
I just left the ICE detention facility in Leavenworth, Kansas to check on my constituents who are being detained.

While my constituents said they were being treated well, I can’t figure out why they’re here.
They’re asylum seekers and moms with no criminal records, they’re far… pic.twitter.com/AGZXaQIzWX
Moore says the two Milwaukee women she visited — arrested in the July enforcement surge — told her they’re being treated well. Human beings, even. Then she can’t figure out why they’re there. They’re asylum seekers and moms, she says, not the “worst of the worst.”
Fine.
ICE isn’t only for cartel hit men. Entering or remaining illegally is still illegal. “No criminal record” besides the immigration violation is the oldest talking point in the book. Then came the money line. She claims the company makes $307,000 off each bed and that profit, not public safety, is driving ICE. WOW. That number isn’t annual profit per detainee. CoreCivic sold the 1,000-bed former prison to DHS for about $238 million. Divide the real-estate deal by the beds and you get that headline figure. It’s a purchase price, not a slush fund per pillow.
The facility is filling up because the administration is actually enforcing the law after years of catch-and-release. Moore saw expansion and called it a plot. I call it capacity meeting demand.Checking on families is one thing. Rewriting the dictionary so illegal aliens become “my voters” and a building sale becomes proof ICE is a racket is another. If they’re treated well and still detained, the problem isn’t the beds.
It’s the border that put them in those beds in the first place.
