Superintendent Addresses Hateful Messages Targeting Somalis Following Shooting at Homecoming Game

As Twitchy reported over the weekend, last Friday night, there was a shooting outside a high school homecoming game in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, in which two teens, neither of whom was a student at the rival schools, were wounded. Both Gov. Tim Walz and gubernatorial hopeful Amy Klobuchar denounced the violence. Still, neither one mentioned rumblings that it was reportedly the doing of two Somali gangs, the “Ville” and “Muddy” gangs (which had also threatened violence at the Minnesota State Fair in August).

School resumed at Eden Prairie, but KARE reports that the school superintendent also "addressed hateful messages targeting Somali people following the shooting."

Naasir Akailvi reports for KARE:

[Superintendent Dr. Josh] Swanson also addressed hateful messages circulating online targeting Somali people following the shooting.

“The heinous and sickening actions of a few do not define an entire community,” Swanson wrote.

He said Somali students, neighbors and community members should feel safe and welcome, adding that threats, bullying or aggression against anyone in the community will not be tolerated.

Since you mention it, KSTP reports that metro-area Somali leaders are working on a plan to ensure peace that they hoped to have ready as soon as Monday.

The Somali leaders need some more tax money to figure out a way to get Somali gangs under control. They'll probably get millions to build community centers or something equally useless.
