Boston Herald: Lindsay Clancy Holdout Juror Now Getting the Negative Attention He Deserves

We've heard plenty of bad takes about the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy case — the one who actually followed jury instructions to determine if Clancy murdered her three children or didn't, not use the verdict to create change to “make it better for other women.” The female jurors who ran to the press told us it was one of the three men on the jury who refused to acquit Clancy. Then they let slip that the holdout was the lone black person on the jury. We also learned he's a devoutly Catholic Haitian immigrant. His brother reveals that the family can't leave the house.

Boston Herald columnist Wendy Murphy believes that the holdout "is getting the negative attention he deserves."

Murphy writes that public relations firms hired by the mental health professionals whom the Clancy family is suing are being paid to post to social media:

Now that the holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy case is getting the negative attention he deserves, it’s easy for District Attorney Tim Cruz to agree to a plea deal that gets Lindsay the help she needs. Between now and when the deal goes through, we need to talk about how and why social media caused so much needless distress in this case.

The jurors voted 11-1 for insanity. This indicates that public opinion breaks down along similar lines. So why does social media make it seem like the public divide is closer to 50-50?

The answer is money. An enormous amount of money is being spent elevating story lines that have nothing to do with how people really feel.

PR firms promote only certain story lines – and they pay influencers and bot farms to spread them. Bot farms are especially dangerous because they manufacture completely fake people on platforms like X, TikTok and Facebook to make it look like hundreds of thousands of people feel a certain way even though the real number is exponentially smaller.

With enough money, a PR firm can create seemingly sincere narratives that have nothing to do with reality. The more money an insurance company stands to lose in a lawsuit, the more money they will spend on PR. It’s expensive but effective. Indeed, a bot farm company can simply push a button and create an endless loop of posts that make it look like half the population believes women are running around killing their babies for fun.

So the piece isn't about the holdout juror at all — it's a conspiracy theory about paid influencers and bot farms. Still, Murphy is garbage.

Obviously paid bots.

It's OK, Hollaria; it's just the hormones making you do it.

Murphy needs to realize that not all of us got to see the "funny" and "entertaining" defense attorney in action, so we weren't swayed by his charms.

Not only was it written, but The Boston Globe published it. 

If anything, Clancy didn't get the negative attention she deserved for murdering her children with an exercise band. She's being lauded as a feminist hero.
