Amazing photos and video: Hundreds injured after meteor lights up the sky over Russia

At least 500 people were reportedly injured after a meteor lit up the sky over Chelyabinsk region of Russia. Photos and video from witnesses show a fireball streaking across the sky above the Ural Mountains. The resulting shock wave shattered windows and damaged structures.

A zinc factory appears to have taken major damage. Fox reports that it is unclear whether the damage was caused by a meteorite or the shock wave.

Russian officials said a large meteorite crater was discovered and fragments were recovered.
