Category 4 Hurricane Lane is making its way toward the Hawaiian islands, with warnings of the storm being the “biggest weather threat” to the state in decades:
The #Himawari satellite captured powerful Category 4 #Hurricane #Lane early this morning tracking toward the #Hawaiian Islands. The slow movement of the storm increases the threat for prolonged heavy rainfall. More imagery: https://t.co/92qwVtbJqE pic.twitter.com/YEcsTr08qp

It’s actually pretty rare for a hurricane to ever hit Hawaii:
A hurricane named Lane is threatening Hawaii. The storm is currently a Category 4, blowing with 155 mph winds.

The major risk from this storm is flooding, which is already underway:
Check out this Hawaii footage from a resident already seeing flooding on their streets as Hurricane Lane tracks towards the islands. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the area, where some regions can see upwards of a foot of rain. pic.twitter.com/pJdOirIpDl

With reports of a foot of rain already in some places:

This could turn into a Hurricane Harvey (Houston) type of event with flooding and landslides:
For the most densely populated parts of Hawaii, 30 inches is more than a year's worth of rainfall.
For Honolulu, it's two year's worth of rainfall.
30 inches is about how much rain Houston got during Hurricane Harvey — the worst rain-induced flooding disaster in U.S. history.

And the president has already issued an emergency declaration for the state:

But that’s not good enough for liberals who are already saying Trump will ignore what’s going on because Hawaii voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016:
It's horrific that the strongest hurricane to ever approach Hawaii is nearing landfall — threatening a flooding disaster on par with the worst in American history — and I'm wondering if the President of the United States will send relief in time because they didn't vote for him
— Eric Holthaus (@EricHolthaus) August 23, 2018
pretty scary that relief for that hawaii hurricane will rest on whether trump understands hawaii is part of america or not

And just a quick reminder for President Trump:
Hawaii, like Puerto Rico, IS part of the United States and will require federal assistance if this hurricane hits. https://t.co/GRIfT6x2mE

Trump probably thinks Hawaii isn't in the U.S. and will treat hurricane recovery like Puerto Rico. Paper towels, anyone?

As Hawaii braces for the the arrival of Hurricane Lane, Donald Trump offers it hush money to go away.

We’ll keep you posted as the storm moves closer to landfall. And everyone stay safe!
