This week the Democrats got plenty of assistance from the media in trying to spin Epstein emails that were selectively released (with dishonest but very telling redactions) by House Oversight Dems. The DNC tried to make the emails damning for Trump but they had such a huge self-own that it ended up being deleted (the DNC account is used to doing that).
What newly released emails have been showing, despite Democrat efforts to paint Epstein and Trump and good pals, is that the former had been actively working against the latter. Mindy had a story earlier today about an email showing that Epstein had been advising a Democrat on how to try and torpedo Trump during a hearing:
Stacey Plaskett, a Democrat who represents the US Virgin Islands in Congress as a non-voting delegate, exchanged texts with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during a 2019 congressional hearing, the delegate’s office confirmed to CNN.
“During the hearing, Congresswoman Plaskett received texts from staff, constituents and the public at large offering advice, support and in some cases partisan vitriol, including from Epstein,” Plaskett’s spokesperson, Angeline Jabbar, said in a statement to CNN. “As a former prosecutor she welcomes information that helps her get at the truth and took on the GOP that was trying to bury the truth. The congresswoman has previously made clear her long record combating sexual assault and human trafficking, her disgust over Epstein’s deviant behavior and her support for his victims.”
When that story broke, the Washington Post's take on X linking to a story didn't really go out of its way to immediately spotlight certain details:
Breaking news: Newly released documents from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate show that he appeared to be texting a member of Congress during a congressional hearing investigating Donald Trump, and that those texts may have influenced the lawmaker’s questions. https://t.co/OdojYFnfm5

If the politician Epstein had been communicating with had been a Trump-supporting Republican that might have been made a bigger issue right there in the post, but not here.
🤔 And she's from which party?

It could have been anybody!
Gonna go out on a limb and suggest the Post wouldn’t have headlined this ambiguously as just a “member of Congress” if this were a Republican. https://t.co/g8GJ03jH0k

This would have been a much more accurate, not to mention succinct, take from the Post:
“Jeffrey Epstein was colluding with Democrats in Congress to go after Donald Trump.”

Fixed it for you.
Would that have been so difficult, WaPo?
Without even looking I know that it’s a democrat because it says “Member of Congress” and not a name. https://t.co/2s4Ose095R

You can know that Jeffrey Epstein was texting a Democrat during a congressional hearing because the Washington Post doesn’t mention party in this X post.

It’s a tell.
Epstein was texting Democrat Del. Stacey Plasket of the U.S. Virgin Islands, home of his island. https://t.co/td9lok29ou
The preferred narrative on this story has crumbled, just like America's trust in the media.
