At last night’s debate, Elizabeth Warren was asked if middle-class taxes would have to be raised if her Medicare for All plan were to go into effect, and the 2020 Dem candidate again dodged the question. New York University journalism professor Jay Rosen said that question from reporters to Warren speaks negative volumes — about the reporters:
The "make Elizabeth warren say she would raise taxes on the middle class" question should be a credibility killer. For the journalists who keep asking it.

Washington Post media columnist (and former public editor at the NY Times) Margaret Sullivan agreed, and Rosen concurred:

I like the way you put it.
"Of course, it’s legitimate to dig into the costs, but not in a way that creates a nice GOP campaign ad, and misses the larger lens of overall costs. (Warren, notably, refused to take the bait.)"

Well, there it is!
Sure, the truth is good. But what if it helps Republicans?

The bias couldn’t be any more obvious if they fired off flare guns while making these comments.
But not, of course, for the politician who keeps ducking it. This chap actually teaches journalism, or something. https://t.co/hPsqoTmkYW

Journalism requires that journalists obscure the truth for the right people apparently
This is why the media has zero credibility https://t.co/s2ksMoUkWz

CNBC’s John Harwood also disagrees with Rosen:
why shouldn’t candidates have to spell out how they would achieve the outcomes they want? https://t.co/V0UY1VVmFx

It seems like that’s one of the reasons for the existence of the media, but apparently not everybody believes that when a select Democrat is challenged.
