Earlier this week, President Biden accepted Saule Omarova’s request to withdraw her nomination to be Comptroller of the Currency.
Criticism of Omarova was over her extreme leftist positions, but the many in the media, along with Democrats, wanted everybody to believe that Republicans were accusing her of communist leanings only because she was born in Russia. The New York Times got in on that action with this report about Omarova’s withdrawn nomination:
Saule Omarova, a Cornell Law professor whom President Biden picked for a key banking regulator job, is withdrawing from consideration for the post. Bank lobbyists and Republicans painted her as a communist because she was born in the Soviet Union. https://t.co/90ShBjM5WX

Katie Pavlich gave the Times the actual reasons Omarova was “painted as a communist”:
Actually, they saw her as a communist because she believes the government should remove private checking accounts from individual holders, ration money out through the fed and bankrupt the oil industry. https://t.co/Z0VCugviMk

NYT: “Bank lobbyists and Republicans painted her as a communist because she was born in the Soviet Union.”
Or maybe it was evident from her academic thesis on Marx's Theory of Revolution?

They cling to the narrative even as it’s sinking below the surface.
