ESPN writer suffers Twitter meltdown after boxer gets suspended

Nearly a month ago we reported on boxer Juan Manuel Lopez blaming a referee for being knocked out by his opponent Orlando Salido. Since he had just been knocked out, most fight fans gave JuanMa a pass for his obviously emotional post-fight comments. The Puerto Rico athletic commission wasn’t anywhere near as kind.

From ESPN:

The commonwealth’s professional boxing commission has suspended the license of former WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez for one year for criticizing a referee after his March 10 loss to Mexico’s Orlando Salido.

He was also ordered Tuesday to pay a $10,000 fine and provide 100 hours of community service.

Lopez previously said a suspension would force him into early retirement. He has 20 days to appeal.

ESPN’s Dan Rafael obviously didn’t agreed with the suspension after suffering a bit of a meltdown from the news.
