I think the best thing that happened last year was the writers' strike. All of the late-night funnymen were at a standstill because they didn't have a writers' room full of people to write their "jokes." Stephen Colbert still had the White House press office sending him material … he could have just read that and no one would have noticed.
The Princess of Wales, Catherine Middleton, was out of the public eye for a while as she was undergoing treatment for cancer, which she announced in a video Friday. I don't know what difference that made to American audiences, but Colbert suggested Prince William was having an affair as part of his monologue:
"The kingdom has been all a flutter by the seeming disappearance of Kate Middleton. Well now, internet sleuths are guessing that Kate’s absence may be related to her husband and the future King of England William having an affair," Colbert told his audience. "So, I think we all know who the alleged other woman. Say it with me –– the Marchioness of Cholmondeley –– what a beautiful name!"
The Marchioness of Cholmondeley was not amused and sent a well-deserved legal notice to Colbert.
She has cancer, and the best they can do is break her heart with salacious rumors.

This passes as "comedy" these days in leftist Hollywood.

It's true, this is "comedy" by today's standards.
Colbert never had the ear for comedy.

Hollywood has been banished from my life. I have zero interest in the preaching and pretentious entitlement of those who love to tarnish everyone who they disagree with . Oh, did I say they are also mean and vicious. Yes, that about does it for now.

I hope Rose Hanbury makes him pay an utter fortune...

My brother died of colon cancer, and there's nothing even remotely funny about it, not that Colbert is funny, and these hurtful rumors show what a douchenozzle and scumbag he is a failure at being human.

Malicious cynicism is not a substitute for comedy. Someone should tell his audience. But, then again, would they care?

He is truly deplorable.

He really is a rotten person. Let’s all say a prayer for princess Kate and her family

He's apparently the best person the network could find for the job.
Let's be clear on this for all the media reporters out there:

Your hero Stephen Colbert went on national television and claimed Kate Middleton was the victim of an affair by her husband. No evidence. Nothing. She has cancer.
Will you call this out? Of course not. https://t.co/v4jKqK3j6w
Speaking of media reporters, this reminds me of CNN's Brian Stelter setting up a calendar marking the days since Melania Trump had been seen in public. He devoted entire shows to it. People started theorizing that Melania had a body double.
Absolutely no decency. It’s supposed to be a comedy show. Is that humor? Just non-stop nastiness. Why are people so nasty. We have more than we’ve ever had. Yet so few are happy.

Here's horrible. Here's hoping he's taken to court.
