As Democrats fight to defend and expand their Senate map in a high-stakes midterm cycle, two of the party’s most effective fundraisers are crossing state lines for a joint Hollywood gathering this week.
Jon Ossoff and Texas Senate nominee James Talarico will headline an event billed as “Two Visionaries, One Night” in Los Angeles on Thursday, with donations split evenly between their campaigns and tickets already selling out at the lower price points. Hosted by Shonda Rhimes along with Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof and his wife Heidi, the fundraiser highlights both candidates’ national draw among entertainment-industry donors and the growing pattern of Democrats not appealing to their own constituents.
For example, the majority of Abigail Spanberger's donations came from out of state donors like billionaire Reid Hoffman.
