Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser slipped this tidbit into a thread about the coronavirus in general, but for some reason, this tweet has been getting the most attention. Bowser says that by February 15, all D.C. government employees must prove they are up-to-date with vaccinations, including the booster shot. But that’s not the tweet we’re talking about; rather, it’s the March 1 deadline for all school students age 16 and up to be vaccinated against COVID-19. And she means all school students: public, charter, private, and parochial.
Beginning March 1, all students eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine that has been fully approved by the FDA (currently, 16 and older) must be immunized against COVID-19. Applies to DCPS, charter, independent, private, and parochial school students. pic.twitter.com/pA51qfaORH

None of the currently available vaccines are fully approved.

Spreading disinformation. There is no fully approved vaccine available to the public. The only vaccines available are still under the Emergency Use Authorization, in other words everyone getting it is in on the trials.

Where does one get a Comirnaty vaccine? You know…the one the FDA approved?
— Justine (@BruinJustine) January 27, 2022
Hey lady, there is no approved FDA Covid-19 vaccine available in the US. There is an experimental one available for emergency use, but nothing that is approved. Maybe visit the FDA website?

It is NOT available.— Gruler (@gruler) January 27, 2022

The mayor says every school kid age 16+ in the city is required to be vaxed with an FDA approved vaccine from March 1.
Riddle me this though: How can they obtain Comirnaty? Fly to Europe? pic.twitter.com/IEYhDToVUV

It is literally impossible to comply with this requirement as defined under DC Act 24-285 without traveling internationally to where Comirnaty is available.https://t.co/a3uAcNOYIT pic.twitter.com/Dh88sRLgvU

Hopefully this is challenged in court. A Mayor doesn't have authority to mandate vaccines for children
— CovfefeForT (@MeBeHealthy) January 27, 2022
This is a law passed by the city council. Under Congressional review now.

How are you going to tell parents what they MUST do with their children? I don’t co-parent with the government… Furthermore, where there is risk and unknown but ever evolving information, there must always be CHOICE. I can’t wait until your mayoral term is up

You, your kind, and your kind of thinking is why our family will NEVER visit DC. Can't take enough showers to wash off the stupid once you've been there!
