As Twitchy reported, the Chicago Sky defeated the Phoenix Mercury 80-74 on Sunday to earn their first WNBA title. It was notable because the Phoenix team blew off the post-game press conference; they just got on the bus and left after losing the game.
The Chicago Sky got their victory parade, and according to one tweeter, it was a “crazy scene.”

hope you know this is me being sarcastic like who cares about the wnba
— Wisty (@Misfraud) October 20, 2021
Barely restrained crowds !
— Gutsy (@gutsy9) October 20, 2021
Most of the crowd are just people waiting for the parade to end so they can cross the street.

Pretty cool they can all greet the fans individually đ

Gary, fan for life, got front row seats!

Honestly Iâm impressed with how the parade featured the team, the coaching staff, all of the season ticket holders, the league staff, and the first 50 to randomly call the radio station.

When there's more people IN the parade than there are watching it. Kind of parallels the WNBA viewer numbers.

The visceral excitement of the assembled dozens was palpable https://t.co/6wbMiumlA4

Actually thought the WNBA went bankrupt and folded years ago. Didnât know it was still a thing.

The NBA dumps tens of millions of dollars every year into the WNBA just to keep it afloat

With the @NBA going full woke, those parades will soon be ghost towns, too. pic.twitter.com/Psw5ZRNCfX
— FalconCrest (@TheTheGrinch7) October 20, 2021
My god what a super spreader event đ
— michael (@MikeCav29) October 20, 2021
Many of the âassembled dozensâ just look like confused bystanders who happened to be there anyway. I feel bad and a lot of secondhand cringe for the players who were made to wave at them.

Serious wokeness must keep that league afloat.

They’ve been known to walk off the court during the national anthem as part of their “social justice initiative.”
Maybe in a show of solidarity fans decided to stay in the locker room during the parade.

I saw a pic that had at least 35 people in it. There were definitely people somewhere

I love my chicago sky and think they deserve more local/national attention, but this is hilarious đ

We might pay more attention to the WNBA if they played ball instead of pulling woke stunts every game.
