Well, this is unexpected … we’d have thought CNN’s Brian Stelter would have kept riding the prevailing narrative and dedicated his show Sunday to proving that President Trump is a white supremacist, but instead it looks like he’s going back into the oldies bin and pulling out his old obsession that Trump is mentally unfit to be president — he pushed that narrative hard for a while.
Look who’s back this Sunday on CNN!
Sunday on @ReliableSources, I'll be joined by Dr. Bandy X. Lee, co-author of "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump," and Dr. Allen Frances, author of "Twilight of American Sanity: A Psychiatrist Analyzes the Age of Trump"
— Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) August 24, 2019
Hey, it’s Dr. Bandy X. Lee, the psychiatrist who had never examined Trump personally but had watched him on TV, who edited a book on his mental health and wished that he could be physically “contained” and tested for sanity — the only problem, she thought, is that restraining the president against his will might look like a coup.
What’s weird is that once media outlets and Democratic Congress members started to pay serious attention, Lee deleted her Twitter account and said good-bye, noting that she had a full-time job and the jump to 600 followers was pretty intimidating.
So why is Stelter resurrecting Lee’s media profile now? Trump must have said something particularly crazy this week.
@brianstelter may have initiated the “Trump is mentally unfit for office” narrative in February of 2017 with Andrew Sullivan. Tomorrow, after the collapse of the Collusion Narrative, he pivots back to it. https://t.co/ax5Ie6TRAh

Well, the fact that he calls his show “Reliable Sources” is your first clue he’s not being serious.
