These celebrity 'boycotts' of Georgia after heartbeat bill signed into law seem to be softening

As Twitchy reported back in March, about 50 Hollywood celebrities signed a letter written by Alyssa Milano stating that if the state were to pass its heartbeat bill into law, they couldn’t in good conscience work in Georgia.

The state did pass the law, and Gov. Brian Kemp signed it. It’s a done deal.

But as Twitchy also reported, heavy hitters like J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele said they were going to shoot the upcoming HBO series “Lovecraft Country” in Georgia, but they’d donate funds to fight the legislation. So, they can in good conscience work in Georgia after all.

Then we were hit with the big news: Jason Bateman, who works on two shows currently filming in Georgia, said he will not work in a state “that is so disgracefully at odds with women’s rights” … if the new six-week abortion ban survives court challenges. But until then, he’s just going to keep shooting.

So is anyone actually pulling up stakes and moving production to another state? None of you could in good conscience work in a state with a heartbeat law.

Hey look, Ron Howard is going to go ahead and shoot his movie in Georgia as planned, at least until the courts overturn Georgia’s law:

Sure he will.

“Much of ‘Hillbilly Elegy’ would be shot in Georgia, ‘where there are still film credits available,’ [Middletown City Council member Ami] Vitori said.

Funny, we didn’t see this “while it works its way through the courts” escape clause in Milano’s boycott letter.
