Racist? MSNBC's Chris Hayes notes Trump's use of the phrase 'strong on crime'

The Big Book of Racial Code Words grew exponentially during the 2012 race between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, incorporating words like “aloof,” “chair,” “kitchen cabinet,” “breadbasket,” and more. It was recently expanded to include “empty barrel,” a supposed racial attack on Rep. Frederica Wilson by Gen. John Kelly.

The Daily Caller noted this week that MSNBC’s Christopher Hayes took note of a racial dog-whistle in one of President Trump’s tweets:

Yes, Trump did say that Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie is “strong on crime.”

But that’s not all; note that in the same tweet, Trump also spoke of Gillespie saving “our great statues/heritage” — and we all know how racist that heritage is.
