We’re certain the organizers of the 10-day March to Confront White Supremacy (known on Twitter as #Cville2DC) were hoping for bigger crowds and more coverage (than the people in dinosaur suits got), but as Twitchy reported, the effort received a big publicity boost when actor Mark Ruffalo joined in on Day 4.

Also catching up with the marchers was Mic, which put together a short video featuring Ruffalo and march organizer Nelini Stamp, who explained that the country has never reconciled with its foundation of slavery and genocide.

Also, remember when the organizers of the Women’s March tried to explain that the event, held the day after Donald Trump’s inauguration, wasn’t anti-Trump? Yeah … well, this march is pretty similar in that regard. There are the usual “No Trump!” chants, such as this one posted by IfNotNow, “movement to end the American Jewish community’s support for the occupation, fighting for freedom and dignity for all Israelis and Palestinians.”

And there’s a list of demands, which includes 10 ways to confront white supremacy, such as the “immediate development of affordable housing for extremely low income people,” an end to stop and frisk, an end to money bail, and the removal of all Confederate monuments:
- Drop all charges against Veronica Fitzhugh.
- Drop all charges against the 22 people arrested protesting the KKK on July 8, and drop the charges against the 3 people dragged out of the August 21 city council as the community took over.
- Initiate immediate development of affordable housing for extremely low income people, and fulfill the “Positive Vision of Resident Directed Redevelopment” from the Charlottesville Public Housing Association of Residents.
- Apologize publicly for police negligence to the families of Sage Smith, Faye Tinsley, and Quinn Woodfolk, and commit to an expansion of the investigations of Faye’s murder and Sage’s disappearance.
- Cease the targeting of Black families by social services to send children into foster care.
- End militarized police units like JADE (Jefferson Area Drug Enforcement) and its successors.
- Stop discriminatory stop-and-frisk.
- End money bail, and release people being held without bond before their trial.
- Remove all confederate monuments.
- Mike Signer must resign, because there is blood on your hands.
Oh, and of course all of the marchers are demanding the “removal” of President Trump for emboldening white supremacists.
