Sorry if the headline ruined the suspense, but no, Ashley Judd will not be running for Senate in 2014. We were looking forward to seeing just what Judd meant when she said that she could handle a campaign against Sen. Mitch McConnell, what with having been raped twice. We certainly wouldn’t rule out a run in the future, though; her announcement does indeed sound like it was written by someone who was born to campaign.
After serious and thorough contemplation, I realize that my responsibilities & energy at this time need to be focused on my family.

Regretfully, I am currently unable to consider a campaign for the Senate. I have spoken to so many Kentuckians over these last few months ~

The collective thud you hear? Liberal #Dems hearts dropping over @AshleyJudd deciding not to run. #KYSen

A conspiracy must be behind Judd's decision… and she and Morgan Freeman will get to the bottom of it and expose the mastermind!

The Twitterverse is already hard at work recasting the role of McConnell’s opponent.
Ashley Judd has decided not to run for Senate, but the producers are hoping they can get Diane Lane.

Welp, Ashley Judd's out. Isn't Billy Ray Cyrus from Kentucky?
— Jennifer Bendery (@jbendery) March 27, 2013
So can Democrats re-cast this role? Can they talk Dana Delany out of that awful series on ABC?
— Jim Geraghty (@jimgeraghty) March 27, 2013
Hey, where does Wynonna Judd live? And can McConnell get her residency certified quickly enough?

Well that little flirtation was short-lived—> "Ashley Judd is not running for Senate" http://t.co/ptRxtjUGhq

It might have been a short flirtation, but we’ll always have Louisville.
@AshleyJudd Upside: You don't have to pretend to like Louisville anymore.
— pourmecoffee (@pourmecoffee) March 27, 2013
Now Ashley Judd can root against Louisville on Friday night.

Update:
Ashley Judd offers her thoughts on the decision, meaning she rambles on without saying much of anything. (Hey, we never said she wouldn’t fit in in Washington, D.C.)
