CNN poll moves Wisconsin from 'lean Obama' to 'toss up'

A new CNN/ORC poll shows the state of Wisconsin in play after the addition of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan to the GOP ticket.

According to the poll, President Obama still leads among registered voters in the state by a margin of 49 to 45.

A Rasmussen telephone survey released today, however, places Romney ahead by one point among likely voters, 49–48.

Business Insider reports that the Ryan pick swings the Independent vote in Wisconsin toward Romney 46–44, where Obama had led among independents by 10 points in August.

President Obama won Wisconsin by 13 points in 2008, but these new numbers reveal that Wisconsin has, for now, truly become a battleground state.
