Justice Department releases statement condemning alleged threats made to Boston Children's Hospital

This is an interesting development. Twitchy has reported on some of the videos that Boston Children’s Hospital has posted advertising its services for transgender youth, such as “top surgery” and gender-affirming hysterectomies. Staffers also claim that children know they’re transgender seemingly from the womb, and pre-verbal trans kids express this by refusing to get their hair cut or playing with “gender-opposite” toys.

No one in the media seems to care about the kids targeted by these ads; this is a “Republicans pounce” story in which “anti-LGBT” accounts like Libs of TikTok repost the publically available videos to stir up threats. Reports say the hospital has been “deluged” with threats since their videos went viral.

The Justice Department has taken notice, and U.S. Attorney Rachael S. Rollins released a statement regarding “alleged threats made to Boston Children’s Hospital.” (You’ve got the FBI at your disposal — are the threats real or not?) Rollins writes that “children deserve an opportunity to thrive and grow as their own authentic selves” and quotes Attorney Merrick Garland as saying that he’s made “confronting hate crimes” a priority of his administration. Rollins is calling this “hate-based criminal activity.”

The Justice Department has even set up a new hotline — 1-83-END-H8-NOW — which has received dozens of calls.

Exactly how does the DOJ define “hate-based criminal activity” in lieu of these alleged threats?
