As Twitchy demonstrated earlier, Christopher Rufo has become a Twitter star for posting whistleblower documents from DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) training sessions from corporations, schools, and government organizations; today he highlighted Google’s anti-racism initiative.
Rufo lost his blue check Tuesday for some reason — Twitter told him that a recent review of his account showed that he was verified incorrectly.
Yesterday, @TwitterSupport disappeared my verification badge. I've inserted my pronouns into my bio in hope of having it restored. Fingers crossed.🤞

In the past week, Google has sent me an alert about a "government-backed attack" against my email system and Twitter has unverified my account—just as I began my investigative reporting on critical race theory in Big Tech.
Strange timing, to say the least.

So they verified you were who you say you are, and now they’re not sure? What is their case?
— Mollie (@MZHemingway) September 8, 2021
They sent an email saying it was "incorrectly Verified" and it was gone. Ridiculous.

This is total bullshit, @TwitterSupport https://t.co/88hxBVJTbh

The first person I ever saw being punished by Twitter with removal of their blue verification badge was Julian Assange, now this. It's such a bizarrely punitive use of that designation — which is supposed to just authenticate identity — but one apparently loses it by reporting: https://t.co/UXjaoxXIYv

They'll come for you anytime soon.
— Alexander Nöthlich (@ANothlich) September 8, 2021
Apparently one can think their way into being unauthenticated.

I'd say Rufo needs to wear it like a badge of honor. Might disagree w/ some specifics, but he's been on point about the trends in liberal/left spaces about weaponizing racial divisions and gaslighting. The mainstream certainly doesn't like it when gaslighting is called out.

It's the "being sent to the principal's office" slap down.
Twitter must recognize they can't keep de-platforming only people on the right without overtly mocking their own claims of political neutrality. Legally, they can do whatever the hell they want.

The whole point of blue check marks is to verify identity — to keep fake accounts, scammers, & trolls from impersonating real people who have a decent number of followers.
Seems weird for Twitter to delete someone's blue check mark just bc they don't like their political views. https://t.co/K6Acjvs8x5

Probably someone at Twitter involved with a teachers union boss got testy. Hope they fix it, or just eradicate the verified mark altogether since it hasn't meant what they pretend it does for 5+ years now.

Have you been hit with any violations recently?
— Seth Dillon (@SethDillon) September 8, 2021
Never had a violation.

That’s almost guaranteed. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey last year gave $10 million, no strings attached, to Ibram X. Kendi’s Boston University Center for Antiracist Research — and Kendi was a featured speaker at Google’s anti-racism training that Rufo tweeted about today.
I am sure it was an accident

Hey @TwitterSupport I hope this is a “mistake”. Otherwise – you all are fools and your bias is showing…against someone who is only reporting facts..
— Matthew Timbrook (@MattTimbrook) September 8, 2021
Why did Twitter just now decide to review Rufo’s account to see that it was properly verfied?
