Last year, after the White House revealed a hallway decorated with red Christmas trees, we counted the stories slamming the decorations. Slate called them Melania Trump’s “red Christmas trees of death,” but that was nothing. We counted at least four stories from the Washington Post alone slagging on the decorations, calling them “spooky” and “Melania’s nightmare forest” and writing that they induced “flashbacks to phantasmal nightmares.”
Oh, also? In Europe, red Christmas trees are a bad sign. Good thing the White House isn’t in Europe, huh?
Now, a year later, the Washington Post has changed its tune: the Christmas decorations are lovely, but the first lady’s coat? It looks ridiculous.
Perspective: Melania Trump’s Christmas decorations are lovely, but that coat looks ridiculous https://t.co/7HieL5jRT6

The WP cannot deny that the decorations are exquisite, so they have to be catty about what FLOTUS is wearing. #Patheic

How many eyes did this pass by at the Post and it still got published?

Don’t you miss the days when there were entire stories about how awesome Michelle Obama’s arms were?
There is no way anyone needed that many words to write this https://t.co/FoKmtDo92A

Has the heat been turned off in the White House? Is that why the Trump's are always so bundled up in heavy coats? ?
— East2West (@CarolynEast2) December 2, 2019
It actually is turned down in this part of the WH in order to preserve the trees.

Not up on the Beltway’s Christmas etiquette. Does loathing Trump require snarking at the man’s wife too? https://t.co/VZ5U1xOGy9
