David Corn calls for House Intelligence Committee to 'hold hearings on Trump protecting Putin'

As Twitchy has pointed out, there are plenty of Republicans calling President Trump’s joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, quite the dumpster fire — Sen. John McCain called it “one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory.”

Rep. Will Hurd (R-Texas), whose seat is up for grabs in the midterms, posted quite the thread from his vantage point as a member of the House Intelligence Committee and a former CIA officer.

To be fair, Trump’s public remarks (which weren’t good) don’t exactly line up with his administration’s policies on Russia: he’s expelled Russian diplomats, sold lethal arms to Ukraine and criticized Germany for pouring billions into Russia’s economy through the Nord Stream II pipeline.

Still, Mother Jones’ David Corn told Hurd what he could do besides tweet:

Yeah, we’re not expecting any hearings as a result of the presser, but fantasizing gives the Left something to do today.

Yes, do that.

Can’t argue with that logic.

We sure are seeing the words “treason” and “traitors” today — even as a CNN analyst wonders when that shadow government is going to step up and take control.

Seems as though Rep. Hurd is hearing from his new base of supporters.

Oh look, it’s 2020 hopeful John Kasich, from whom we were all waiting to hear.
