At the end of July, a viral video showed a man and a woman being beaten on the streets of Cincinnati during the city's jazz festival.
One of the victims is a woman named Holly. Maybe you've seen pictures of her injuries on social media. If you haven't, here is one of them:
JUST IN: Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno releases photos of the woman who was brutally beaten in Cincinnati after a local council member said she deserved the beatdown.

Councilwoman Victoria Parks said she was "grateful" that the woman, "Holly," was beaten unconscious.

The other victim was a man. They are both White and of the three arrests made so far in this beating, all the suspects are Black. Authorities in Ohio have either ignored the racial elephant in the room or tried to downplay the obvious racial implications in this crime. The vice mayor of Cincinnati said it was just 'one incident of adults fighting' and the Police Chief blamed social media for spreading videos of the attack (she's being sued for racial discrimination, by the way, so take her chastisement with a grain of salt).
But it gets even worse. A member of the Cincinnati Council, Victoria Parks, said the victims 'begged for that beatdown' and stood by those comments when questioned by the media. She is not seeking reelection, so she's clearly let the mask slip. So did Pastor Damon Lynch, who demanded the victims also be arrested and their mug shots publicized.

Meanwhile, restaurant owners in Cincinnati spoke out, demanding that the authorities who run the city address the rampant crime that is hurting their businesses and livelihoods.
This indicates, to me, that this isn't just 'one incident of adults fighting' but an ongoing issue.
Fox News has irresponsibly entered the fray, posting video of the incident in which the 'N-word' was shouted.

They edit the word, however, so it's impossible to tell who yelled it. It could have been anyone at the scene.
So it could’ve been a racist white person saying it or it could’ve been Black people saying it to each other. And because you bleep it out we have no way of figuring it out, which is lame

BTW are you sure it’s the full N-word and not the version that substitutes the ER sound… https://t.co/CLNX9XoJ7a
There have been countless examples of biased media malpractice over the years, but this one is appalling in every sense of the word.
Fox News being irresponsible. By bleeping the word it’s impossible to tell where it came from based on context (is it front, left, or right? Is it hard r soft a, etc?) This leads the viewer to assume it’s coming from a person on screen moving their mouth. Release unedited video. https://t.co/smZRu1AlSB

We're adults, and if we can't listen to the unedited video in a story as fraught with racial animus as this one is, then don't release the video at all.
And more to the point: assuming one of the White victims did utter that word, in what world does it warrant a beating? Not a civilized one. Leftists say a great many things I find offensive and hurtful, but that doesn't give me the right to leave a Leftist sprawled on the sidewalk with a black eye.
It's also inherently racist:
And what lays behind this is the rather racist assumption that black people are unable to control themselves when offended.

Democrats, as always, remain the actual racists.
That doesn't mean places like Fox News have to help them. Publishing this censored video of a race-based attack, where authorities in the city of Cincinnati are just itching for a reason to blame -- and even arrest -- the victims, is irresponsible. At best, it's throwing fuel on an already volatile situation.
We do not despise the media enough.
