President Donald Trump has an innate ability to elicit the most unhinged, illogical, and revealing reactions from his opponents. You'd think that after a decade of Trump being in the public political eye, the Left would catch on to his little game.
You'd think wrong.
But this week has -- once again -- proven that President Trump has broken the brains of so many people that he managed to pull off a miracle: he made the Left defend the Catholic Church.
It's all a show, but for a brief moment, the Left at least pretended they cared about Catholicism.
As a Catholic, I am less offended by the AI-generated image that sparked this entire debate than the faux outrage on behalf of my religion. A religion that, right up until two minutes ago, the Left would have gladly seen expunged from the public sphere.
Quite possibly the most disrespectful post in a sea of disrespect. I’m not Catholic amd I’m sickened.. https://t.co/aWjPEVjyXX

In Washington state, the so-called Democratic governor just signed legislation that explicitly and intentionally singles out Catholic clergy for persecution if they do not report certain crimes told to them in confession.
Ok I was skeptical that this new law would be found unconstitutional since the penitent-confessor privilege is a carveout, but lol the way they wrote this no question its unconstitutional pic.twitter.com/xKSozP6hdw

Catholics believe in something called the 'Seal of the Confessional,' meaning that what is said in confession is between the Catholic confessing her sins and God. The priest -- under threat of excommunication, removal from priestly duties, and even confinement in a monastery.
Confession, also known as the Sacrament of Reconciliation, is a requirement of all Catholics. We are bound to go to confession at least once a year, and we must confess and receive absolution for our mortal sins. Failure to do so leaves one out of a state of grace and threatens eternal punishment in Hell.
The Democrats in Washington have declared war on this. It will likely be overturned by the courts as a violation of the First Amendment, but that's not the point.
I see no outrage over this from the Left, or the others clutching pearls about Trump's pope pic.
Likewise, just a few short years ago, the Obama administration dragged the Little Sisters of the Poor to court by attempting to get the Catholic nuns to pay for birth control and abortions, two things that directly and explicitly contradict Catholic teaching. The case went to the Supreme Court, which ruled 7-2 in favor of the Sisters.
From the Left? Outrage.
Outrage that some Catholic nuns wouldn't have to foot the bill for their sexual activity, but no hysterical treatises on how offensive it was to try and force nuns to pay for birth control.
I guess that's (D)ifferent.
In 2021, the Biden-Harris administration filed an appeal seeking to force religious hospitals and healthcare providers to provide 'gender-affirming care' to trans individuals. Surely, some of those hospitals and healthcare providers were, and are, Catholic.
In the last election, Kamala Harris made it explicitly clear she opposed religious exemptions for healthcare providers over abortion, and her administration would force them to choose between their careers and their faith.
Where was the Left to defend their faith as the Biden-Harris administration attacked religious freedom?
Nowhere to be found.
The Olympic opening ceremony featured an LGBTQ send-up of the Last Supper. Offended and outraged Christians were told to shut up and tolerate it.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer made a mockery of the Eucharist with a Dorito, and Catholics were told to keep their traps shut.
Just terrible. https://t.co/kJNgnTYFqC pic.twitter.com/MlULJdRKcX

When the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence engage in insulting caricatures of nuns, the Left applauds them and invites them to Major League Baseball games.
Deep, unrelenting perversion, you say? https://t.co/zjEjJiYN0R pic.twitter.com/X26mMQAQiB

Any complaints to this were met with replies of, 'Shut up, Christofascist bigot.'
So, forgive me if I find the outrage over Trump's pic to be not only performative, but a slap in the face. Not one of the Leftists clutching their just-bought rosary beads has the nerve to stand up to actual attacks on the Catholic faith, because they support those attacks.
They despise Catholicism and all it stands for.
Until they can use it as a cudgel against Trump.
Which is more offensive than a pic of the president in a pointy hat.
