And some people ain’t thinkin’ before they tweet.

Midler’s “some Christians ain’t Christian” gem came immediately after she accused Sen. Cruz of hypocrisy for having taxpayer-subsidized health care:

Just one problem: he doesn’t. As Sen. Cruz informed Sen. Durbin earlier today, while he is eligible for the congressional health care program, he is not enrolled:

I read the Bible all the time and Jesus and the Apostle Paul are not like Cruz and his group. As a mtter of fact that whole conserviitve Christian thing is NOT biblical Christianity. This is American Christianity that worships and American god who is a patriot…

    • MarcusFenix

Not trying to argue…but I am genuinely curious. Could you please explain your position in detail?

      • mambome

He likely believes that Jesus’s call to charity and giving is equivocal to government programs enforcing a redistribution of wealth to the poor and underprivileged. I often hear this from liberal Christians, though I believe it doesn’t really match up with Biblical charity. I’ve often seen them argue in favor of higher taxes, by quoting “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s,” but I would argue that the argument over tax rates is to determine what actually IS Caesar’s. I would also point out that doing SOME type of work is mandated in Thessalonians 3:9-11

“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

        2 Corinthians 9:7

You can downvote Mr Goff all you like, but there IS a strain of self-proclaimed Christianity preached by the David Bartons of the world which try to somehow declare, despite all evidence to the contrary, what Holy Joes all the Founding Fathers were, and they also attempt to link, in their own interpretation, what’s going on in the world today with it being the endtimes, with America as the only nation God cares about right now besides Israel, because we’re His favorites.

      • gotroy22

There is a strain of self-proclaimed Christianity preached by the Reverend Wrights, Nancy Pelosis, Joe Bidens and Barack Obama’s which try to declare, despite all evidence to the contrary, that America is an evil country that is not exceptional and deserves judgement.

        • Adela Wagner

And according to Nancy Pelosi, there is a brand of Catholicism, that garners her a “good Catholic” for supporting abortion.

        • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

You won’t hear me disagreeing with you on that deal.
My point is that there are some types of religion, professed by some types of people, which are often the refuges of scoundrels.

And when religion isn’t that kind of refuge, and the people are actually sincere believers, a lot of it is really just so much “My God can kick your god’s ass.” Not helpful in any discussion. Neither is calling down the wrath of the Lord. There’ll be time enough for that on the Judgment Day, assuming there will be one.

      • Paulita Gilberto

There is no doubt God has blessed this nation above any other, but it’s not because we’re his “favorite,” it’s because He’s had a purpose for us. To defeat Nazi Germany for one. We have nothing to brag about & that’s not what Barton says. We are currently a post-Christian nation, far from what our founders had envisioned & they warned us that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance. We’ve tolerated too much for too long. Tolerance is not a Christian concept. Like Israel, we’ve given up way too much for “peace” with an enemy that wants anything but. Jesus said the gospel will be preached to the ends of the earth before He returns. It’s His will that none should perish, but it’s a fight that must be fought, because there will always be opposition.

        • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

“He’s had a purpose for us…” Just us? Not any other nation on Earth? God doesn’t care about Swaziland? They don’t fit into some overall plan of salvation of the world? And: “Tolerance is not a Christian concept.” Turn the other cheek? Ever heard that one?

Do you realize that these are the same kind of things Muslims say about Islam? And it will not do to say “But we’re right, and they’re wrong.” They say the same thing. It all comes down to my God can kick your god’s ass, when you boil it all down.

          • rssllue

Turn the other cheek is actually forgiveness when you are wronged, not tolerance for the wrong behavior. They ARE different concepts.

          • Paulita Gilberto

God does what he wants , whenever He wants. He’s God & we aren’t. The plan is that it’s God’s will that none should perish. All of our names are written in the Book of life until we choose, by our own freewill to be blotted out. God doesn’t care about political correctness. The only thing YOU need to know is that God has a plan for YOUR life if YOU choose to accept it. God will use ANYONE willing to be used to do His purpose. Everytime God’s people turn from their purpose, God sends warnings, like the WT Towers, McVey, all these are warnings to us to repent & get right with God again & he does the same with every nation. If you can’t see the hand of God on this nation, from the beginning, you have to be blind. The fact that you are not blessed is your own fault. His blessings are available to everyone of us if we just receive it & yes, it comes with conditions & rules, it’s not cheap, it was bought with a great price.
Turning the other cheek is for interacting with people in a civil setting. You don’t turn to Japan after they bomb Pearl Harbor & give them San Francisco. If you believe that Allah is God, become a Muslim. I choose the God of Abraham, Isaac & Israel, the only true God. There is no substitute. Who will you serve?

      • David

And at what institution of higher learning did you get your history decree? Indeed the Founding Fathers were guided by a strong belief in God without referencing a specific religion in their writings.

        • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Read closer. I said, HE said ALL the FF’s were somehow God’s angels upon Earth. Jefferson was not– Jefferson cut passages out of the Bible he said had no place there. Franklin was for most of his life an unchurched man. His point was that they all felt they were somehow imbued with the Holy Spirit, or some other equivalent historically-nonsensical proposition. Most of the Founders believed in “Nature’s God,” a concept propounded by Baruch Spinoza, a 17th C. Dutch philosopher– whose writings prefigured the Enlightenment of the 18th C. in which the works of Spinoza and John Locke were taken much more into consideration than the Bible in matters of worldly concern, by most of the educated folk of the day (as the Founders were).

Face it, some were religious, and some were not. Of those who were believers, a goodly number were not churchy types. Barton is flat-out wrong, and even writers generally agreeable to his religious doctrine believe he is not accurate in what he said.

          • David

I don’t debate those who are as ignorant as you. I have degrees in political philosophy and history. You may want to expand your reading list.

However, I would be interested in knowing the difference (if there is one) and how can you determine who is who. • tallron

Very simple- if you believe that stealing someone else’s money or murdering a baby is moral- you are not a Christian.

      • Paulita Gilberto

I know Obama voters who are pro-life, pro-defense of marriage, but still voted for him because it was an “historic election.” It’s all a matter of what you’re willing to compromise. If you really believe in eternity, does it really matter what happens historically? Obama certainly has done nothing to advance Christianity. In fairness, Bush erred in saying that Islam & Christians worship the same God, but he demonstrated the love of God to soldiers in hospitals& even serving them Thanksgiving dinner in a war zone. I’m all for legal immigration, our country needs & benefits from them but I’m against illegal immigration
that hurts the young & poor that are already here. I disagree with Bush & Obama on that & think both have wrong motives. All we can do is get the best info we can on our candidates & line them up with what we know to be true. I voted for Jimmy Carter the first time & regret it to this day. Biblical Christianity taught the church to help the poor Christian converts & to love each other with the goal of reaching outsiders, who, seeing the love of God, would want to join. It was not extended as a “right,” but a mercy to be thankful for.

          • MarcusFenix

The multitude of free health clinics across the country, in almost every county in every state, beg to differ with you when it comes to having no choice for health care. It’s not 5 star treatment, but pretending like there’s zero choice for people is untrue, at best.

          • QueenB ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Now why do you suppose the treatment at free health clinics is less than 5 star? Couldn’t possibly be because it is healthcare run by the government, could it?

          • MarcusFenix

            Honestly…

That is part of it. Red tape tends to slow the process down somewhat.

Mostly, it’s a matter of budget allocation…on all levels. Most of the clinics are given funds to operate and deal with basic services, but anything past the common cold or a regular checkup costs money they might not want to spend. I do know that where I live, the clinics do a type of in-house review on a case by case basis. They cover most things, including sending people to a free dentist for that sort of procedure, hooking up people with free cancer screenings and the like…but ultimately, budget and red tape are what drive decisions there.

          • QueenB ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Very true. And now things will be run that way EVERYWHERE. Super awesome!

          • MarcusFenix

Sadly, it looks to be heading that way. Sometimes, at least around here, local charities kick in and take care of some things (such as the local pregnancy center, which helps women who are in bad times and are expecting to get on their feet, give them a place to stay, helps with costs, etc).

On it’s face, the local model might even be a counter to Obamacare. Local services, in already established clinics, taking care of those who have trouble getting coverage or people who have none…except it’s government run still. I would thinking working within that framework might be best….because anything is better than the ACA. I just don’t like how it would be run…creates the same problems and barriers as ACA does, in a different model.

But it also wouldn’t be beyond the pale for a person who has a great deal of wealth to pay for their own procedures. Again, it’s not like he’s a pauper.

The fact he might have had to pay out of pocket also stems from the fact that experimental procedures are almost never covered under insurance plans, regardless. There are cases where it’s happened, but certainly the exception rather than the rule. As much as I’m not a huge Cheney supporter…it’s more likely he paid almost all of it out of pocket.

          • ray hale

doubtful..by the way I raised the question…did not definitively state as fact…

          • MarcusFenix

Ok, so what justification do you base your doubtfulness on? You certainly didn’t counter anything I said.

You posted a question, but the phrasing was enough to at least give someone else the impression that it was your own opinion.

I gave an answer. You didn’t counter that answer. You haven’t even postulated a possible counter. If you’ve got something to say, then do so. Otherwise, I’ve already listed several reasons why your assessment would be faulty and your question would be answered.

          • ray hale

…get a grip…you are taking this waaay too far, but I’ll say this sittiing presidents and vice presidents along w/top government officials get the best of the best of medical care, and this is all on the tax payers dime…veterans don’t even get this level of care…

          • MarcusFenix

“Sitting presidents”…which don’t include Cheney. Unless, of course, you think he’s still the VP.

Only the ignorant consider asking for proof or justification “taking it waaaay too far”.

Of course they do. He’s the President. He’s not going to Patient First.

            What a silly retort.

          • ray hale

I see that went right over your head. Your answer was non responsive. Must not have got it. Even if you disagree with my opining you ought to be able to stay on point and answer the issue, rather than slide around and attack the comment. Smart ruse, but not smart enough.

          • MarcusFenix

If it went over my head, why are you the one who can’t actually keep up or answer the original postings?

I didn’t deviate from the point, either my own or yours.

            See, watch:

            “..bet ya the gov paid…”

            Response, in 2 parts:

            1. If you have some facts to support your statement, I’d agree with you. Outside of that, it just sounds like baseless trolling.
            2. Ok, so what justification do you base your doubtfulness on?

The other 2 posts speak for themselves. You told me to get a grip, and i’d gone too far, when you were asked to back up your position.

Now, magically, it’s over -my- head, that you can’t answer a simple question? How is it a ruse for you to give proof for your statement…unless you’re the baseless trolling type.

Your post up there was full of crap. If anyone doesn’t get it, it’s you. What point didn’t I stay on?

I disagree with your opining, and you can’t offer any proof…or is asking you to back up your idiocy too far off point? SMH.

          • ray hale

Tell me how to back up my idiocy, furthermore, why would or should I back up my opining to you when you refer to it as idiocy. If that is the way you conversate that’s fine by me, it’s your right, but I don’t have to participate in name calling and put downs and trying to denigrate someone, because I don’t happen to agree with their point of view, whether it concerns facts, opinions, or both. I’m not even going to block you.

          • MarcusFenix

It’s a good thing you aren’t going to block me….since that’s not a thing you could do anyway. *shrug*

I asked you to justify a point. You keep coming back with idiotic arguments. If you don’t like that, or it offends your sensibilities, then I’m sorry Buttercup, but the internet is not for you.

It’s not that i disagree or agree. I’m asking you to back up what you’re stating, or opining, or blathering about….whatever you want to call it….with some sort of factual proof.

You can’t. You’re acting foolish. Just calling like it like I see it.

If you can…i’d be happy to look at it, but…obviously that’s off point to ask for information or proof.

          • ray hale

you do have that right, to call it as you see it, I cede that point to you most graciously, so do I, and because of your characterization and tone and attitude I have no intention of responding to any more of your commentaries…

          • wwbdinct

So if you can’t state it definitively as fact, then what is the point? Just a random “because Cheney” in a thread that has nothing at all, whatsoever, to do with him!

          • ray hale

…has to do with disparity and preferences in the health care system…just one example of many to the exception of the rule..

          • trixiewoobeans

So you threw something at the wall, hoping it would stick?

          • ray hale

No, just made a comment…just like anybody else..

          • trixiewoobeans

Next time, when you’re casting aspersions on people, make sure you use facts, otherwise, you look like a troll. You’re not a troll…. are you?

          • QueenB ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

So what you’re basically saying is because Chaney had a procedure that may or may not have been paid for by the government, it is perfectly acceptable for other members of government to force health plans on us that we do not want and exempt themselves from it. Makes perfect sense.

          • ray hale

…no, that is not what I said

          • QueenB ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Well, everyone here seems to think that’s what you were saying, so if we are incorrect, what ARE you saying?

          • ray hale

Cheney was just an example. When have you ever known anything, much less by the government, to have been done without infringing on someone else’s right to the enjoyment of their freedoms. And if it infringes that much on your right of choice, then find a constructive way to voice your belief and take action to exempt yourself and others who do not wish for the intrusion into their lives.

          • wwbdinct

Here’s a suggestion – why don’t you find out what the facts are before you post something like “bet ya the gov paid”.

          • ray hale

here’s a suggestion, …my comment was not based on factual data, that was implied and stated, it was my comment, my opinion, my belief and I’m sticking with it…but I will take your comment under advisement…

      • gotroy22

Gee maybe he did, he was a CEO, Einstein.

        • ray hale

so what, that’s not how the rich roll…einstein

          • MarcusFenix

The rich don’t use their money to get things other people in the general public cannot?

I guess someone should tell them all of those jets, and houses, and multiple cars……all that needs to go back.

          • NRPax

No kidding. After all, at some point “you’ve earned enough money.”

          • journogal

The general public can buy houses, cars and jets; perhaps they can’t afford to, but anyone can buy them. And by multiple cars, do you mean more than two? Many middle class households have more than two cars. I know people are classified as middle class who have a home and a vacation property.
I am not sure what “rich” can get that other people can’t.

          • MarcusFenix

So, your argument is that because I wasn’t specific enough and you didn’t take it in context, that clearly I was wrong. I ‘m sure you were aware of what I meant to begin with, but if you want to troll a little, then here you go.

Then let’s break it down for you a little more.

I was referring directly to the mulitple houses, multiple garages full of vehicles, jets(which didn’t make your list, btw), and the general amount of “bling” that rich people can acquire and pay for that the general public has nowhere near the funds to do so. Can an average family have 2 cars? Sure. Can they both be cars that cost more than 350,000 dollars each? How about a fleet of SUV’s? How about hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry…not because it was passed down, but because they just felt like buying it?

If your average middle american family can puchase multiple mansions and own incredibly expensive cars….then we live in very different neighborhoods.

This shouldn’t really require explaining, but I suppose it did.

          • ray hale

I guess that’s your comment and you’re sticking to it…that is certainly your right, but my experience and observation is otherwise…

          • Corey Dennison

Oh…DO please tell us all about the rich.

          • ray hale

…what do you want to know…

          • Corey Dennison

I want to know just how deep your stupidity goes…

          • ray hale

obviously…not as deep as yours evidently…I did not attack you personally, as you did me…just spoke my opinion which I guess you did not agree with, but really, does that make me stupid or warrant your remark…not trying to get into a pissing match…this is still America, right, so am I entitled to an opinion…

          • Corey Dennison

obviously…not as deep as yours evidently

Ouch! I’m feelin’ the burn now! I bet you’re going to follow up with the famous “I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I?” gambit!!

          • ray hale

…nope, have nothing else to say…

          • Corey Dennison

            Good.

            At two separate facilities.

    Who’s Bette Midler?

  • gotroy22

How would an foul-mouthed agnostic Jew like Bette Midler know what it takes to be a good Christian?

  • DrSamHerman

Simple question: How does a Jewish woman know what a “real” Christian is? Christianity is like a county fair with a lot of different booths.

  • right_on

Hey, Bette!! Maybe you could post; “Some Muslims, ain’t Muslims.”
Or; “Some intelligent entertainers, ain’t intelligent nor entertaining.”

  • right_on

People are just now realizing that Dick Durbin is a jerk, and/or an ass? Welcome to the world of DUH! When has Durbin NOT displayed either trait? Too many people fall for his soft spoken, condescending palaver.

Why do I (and I assume most of us here) have to live in smaller houses than Ms. Midler? Why do we have to drive older cars? Why do we have to enroll our kids in public schools instead of private? According to her, it seems the choices you make in life should make no difference as to the outcome, so who is she to not give away all her money? Why does she get to keep it so she can live a very comfortable life? And why do libs denounce God as often as possible, until they feel it may be politically advantageous to bring Him up?

    • ray hale

what is cruz supporting abortion…is that a fault or not

      • QueenB ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

  • EDUCATEDPATRIOT

As far Midler is concerned, “some celebrity windbags ain’t bright”. Yup, Bette, you guessed it…

Durbin’s downfall is the classic liberal mentality that if it’s “free” (somebody else is paying for it), then you must be taking it.

For those trying to quote the Bible: Can you at least read it properly? 2 Thessalonians 3:10 says (KJV) “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”
The implication being (as said in more modern translations) that if a person is not WILLING to work they should not be supported by the charity of the church. The problem at the time was not the charity of the churches, it was that some in the fellowship were sponging off the willingness of others to help them. It has nothing to do with not helping a person who has a legitimate NEED and cannot, for some reason, help themselves.

People who approve of Obamacare look to the propaganda, the “sound good” spin. Look deeper at the problems. The first time I heard that the IRS will be administering it, sounded the alarms. Are you paying attention? 17,000 new IRS agents with the power to do as they wish in many aspects of your life. Abortions paid for with your money, whether you think it’s good or is evil. For me abortion is evil. And Obama promised, did he not, that abortion would not be a part of it. Someone in this stream mentioned the “storm troopers” who can come into your house for whatever reason. When I heard this I thought of our pre=revolution years. 1776. Immediately I thought, that can’t be, it’s definitely unconstitutional!!!!. Bill of Rights #4. Absolutely no question. To those of you who say, it’s the law, live with it, I say, just wait till you run afowl of The Law, and you will cry “why didn’t we fight harder.”!!

Wikipedia says Midler was born into a Jewish family, but does not indicate what her beliefs are now. That being said, she is either unqualified to say what a Christian is because she isn’t one, or if she is one, she should refresh herself on the opening verse of Matthew 7: “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”

In other words, watch your mouth, Bette. What goes around comes around.

Very old leftist trick. First, they mock and ridicule Christian doctrine as the rantings of lunatics who “pray to an invisible man in the sky, and think he’s listening.” Then, in a cynical attempt to recruit Christians to Marxist ideology, they suggest that Jesus would have wanted to help the poor with government handout programs, and in order to be a good Christian, you must be a leftist. They actually invoke a doctrine which they actively try to keep out of government altogether. These flippin’ Commies haven’t had an original thought in years.

I used to be a fan of Ms. Midler’ s. But she has proven herself to be nothing more than another millionaire Limousine Liberal. I am appalled !!!!

    Here’s a good reply from @DocJ4U:
“.@BetteMidler Yes Ms. Midler, @SenTedCruz “ain’t” just a Christian, he is an authentic Christian. Love thy neighbor & #DefundObamacare!”

[Bette Midler accuses Ted Cruz of not being a real Christian]

I’m sure Bette Midler reflects fondly on the “Hocus Pocus” days when she dressed like a witch to look acceptable to her viewers. Before that she was flashing her breasts on stage to get her fans to notice her — but we don’t want to talk about those horrid days of yore!

  • bobrjr29

middler is just another in a long line of out of touch rich jagoffs who think they are better than the rest of us…just one more stupid libtard to boycott

  • Jspyrogram

    some Jews ain’t Jewish

  • louisk

Then some heathens ain’t heathen and some aethiests ain’t aethiests. It is a good thing Bette has a script because she can’ think.

  • russellbennett

I am not in favor of gun control but we better not let Durbin have a gun, he shoots first and then asks questions.

  • bobomack

I used to like you Bette for your humor and entertainment qualities, but you and your elitist celebrity idiots make an ass out of yourselves when it comes to what’s really going on. Which makes me question if you were actually acting or are really that stupid!!

    • AnnieO

I’m with you, Bob. Another entertainer for my list of DO NOT BUY, WATCH, SUPPORT. You’d think these stupid Hollywood people would figure out that they need to stay out of politics if they don’t want to ruin their fan base.

  • AlmostaCowboy

I wasn’t aware the Jewess was an expert on Christianity, or even knowledgeable.

  • James A. Lonon

If Bette Midler was any good at acting, she would act like she had good sense.

Government implies the power of making laws. It is essential to the
idea of a law, that it be attended with a sanction; or, in other words, a
    penalty or punishment for disobedience.

Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 15, 1787

  • Laura Paris

    Dear
Bette Miller how can you say some Christians ain’t Christian. BTW the word ain’t
does not exist anymore in the dictionary.
Only smart people would know that.

  • msbetz

    Who is Bette Midler?

    • LegalizeShemp

Washed up has been singer. I call her “Bent Midriff”.

  • eeddggy

Thanks Bette. However, there is not a living human being that wants to hear your voice.

  • Bullrhider

What in the world does Bette Midler know about being Christian? Gimme a break….

    • Isabella1709

Gees, I thought she was Jewish!

  • Fired Up

Bette…….Ted Cruz is probably praying for clarity for you.

  • Oilfart1

    Durbin is the definitive Dick.

  • ToyZebra

Bette, are you talking about the ones in congress who strongly support abortion?

  • GaylePutt

Bette….you have an incredible talent for singing….just stick to that.

  • Adam Steiger

The only disturbing thing about all this is that (according to the pics) Bette Midler’s message reached many more people than the rebukes did.

Since she’s an entertainer, most of these followers are likely younger, very impressionable, and “low info” voters (i.e. they could care less about researching the issues).

Anyhow, I don’t say that to discourage anyone from fighting the good fight. Certainly, taking care of the little things (daily rebukes of ignorant messages), will lead to the bigger things will taking care of themselves.

  • Kim Hansgen Granger

HA!! Love the CRUZ MISSILE!! And I love Senator CRUZ!

  • survivalone

wow I hate hearing people talk about a Christian or what a Christian is suppose to be.. I am a Christian, that means I try to live the way Christ wants me to.. It means I am in a groun of people who do not think they are perfect but know we are not prefect, but we love God and we are just individuals who try to live better then we used to.. we have love for others. We are a group of imperfect people who are not afraid to say we need God to guild our life

  • P Smith

I don’t see Ted Cruz visiting a dying fan in her bed and calling them to serenade them or chat or whatever…..Bette may have been mistaken with something like what healthcare he gets, but he definitely is showing an ugly side by trying to take something from the USA that hasn’t even really started yet.

    • TocksNedlog

What is he attempting to take away? Besides a few billion additional dollars that otherwise will be added to the national debt, that is.

      • nails88

People who won’t die because Insurance companies are no longer allowed cut off their coverage when they reach a lifetime cap. (It often occurs with children with congenital diseases).
People who won’t be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions.
Aren’t those good things? Why does Cruz want to deny them to Americans?

        • Corey Dennison

People who won’t be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions.

What you’re describing is not ‘insurance coverage.’ So, do you think you should be able to get insurece for your vehicle after you wrap it around a tree? Because that’s what you’re saying.

          • nails88

Really? If a kid is born with a congenital birth defect, he should be denied coverage?
That is actually what is happening to people.
            It’s real.
            It’s heartbreaking.
And that’s what you and Cruz and the rest of the tea party are supporting.

          • Corey Dennison

I don’t think you understand what the TEA Party stands for.

You can’t do ANYTHING right on this thread!

          • nails88

That is what repealing Obamacare would do. That is what you are for. Not difficult to understand.

Oh, and BTW, I sure have you guys riled up!

          • Corey Dennison

No…that’s not what repealing Obamacare would do.

And if by ‘having us riled up’ you means getting your arguments pounded against the wall by fact-wielding conservatives, then sure. Otherwise…you’re providing plenty of entertainment.

          • nails88

            Wrong again, Bob.

          • ray hale

they stand for a heartless, hateful, arrogant attitude towards people who through no fault of their own find themselves in need of medical care that they can not afford or any kind of insurance to help assuage the cost of their care

          • Corey Dennison

            Nope. Try again.

          • ray hale

            …not interested…

          • Corey Dennison

            Of course not…you have nothing.

          • VerminMcCann

No, we favor a different policy than you do and somehow manage to advocate it without strawmen and personal attacks.

          • ray hale

can you read…it’s all about attitude…if it is not you then way get upset..I think you wear your politics on your feet and when you get stepped on you want to Holler…I know your kind of Christianity from listening to your views…your politics seems to be first and foremost in your conversation and seem to infuse your “Christianity” in a way that comes across tainted with by the desires of your flesh…

          • ray hale

I think you are wasting your time on a lost cause, because his answer is to just let them die…so long as it’s not his family…

          • Corey Dennison

            Nope…didn’t say that, either.

You’re getting pretty good at this strawman thing, too!

          • ray hale

learned it from you, you full of it, without some kinda safety net, they DIE!!!,,,

          • VerminMcCann

            Who? Clumsy circus performers?

          • ray hale

            …them too…

          • VerminMcCann

Well, maybe the government should force the catholic church to buy nets for all the acrobats too slutty to buy their own. Would that make you happy?

          • ray hale

…did you forget about separation of church and state, that would probably result in lots of protest and so forth, besides it’s not my question, not interested, what do you say they should do…must confess something, don’t really understand your comment…

          • VerminMcCann

Now, see, this (along with your last post) presents a problem. Here I am, all libertarian regarding recreational drug use, and you come along along and post two of the best arguments in favor of the war on drugs that I’ve ever seen.

I don’t really know how to respond because, frankly, I have no clue what you’re trying to say. You might have better luck if you try writing sentences rather than stitching sentence fragments and half-formed thoughts together using ellipses and commas.

As for separation of church and state, you might want to take the issue up with your colleague Nails, who wrote condemning the GOP acting counter to what he believed Jesus would have wanted. Or maybe you could talk to the poster who endorsed that post by commenting “Right on.” Oh hey! That was you! You can take your church and state nonsense and argue about it with yourself.

And, by the way, I am not religious, though what bearing you think my faith or lack of faith have on your right to force others to act against the tenants of theirs I can only guess.

          • ray hale

that’s what’s wrong with you your brain resembles the “this is your brain on drugs commercial, by the way, what does I’m not religious mean, your definition

          • VerminMcCann

Okay, you sober up. I’m going to sleep. I’ll respond to your scribblings in the morning.

          • ray hale

please don’t, peace to you and have a restful sleep

          • VerminMcCann

No, sorry, you don’t get to show up here pontificating and spewing vitriolic strawmen then bow out like you’re just a reasonable guy looking for conversation.

          • ray hale

how ’bout this cruz’s wife works for Goldman Sachs, guess what, she gets the Cadillac of health insurance, so teddy does not need his government insurance, because hers is better, though to hear cruz tell it, he would tell you and others not to sign up for ObamaCare when his family is covered by the best insurance, health insurance available, he tries to give the impression that he, his family is not covered…not true

          • VerminMcCann

No. His point was that he’s not on the plan offered to Congress. Are you lying, or just very bad at thinking? And what does this have to do with anything I said?

          • ray hale

Goes to your character for proffering it up as an example of how noble, and upstanding a guy, cruz is that he has no “umbrella” of protection for the health interest of his family. And that he is going to deny himself take up his sword and stand with the uninsured. Nobody wants to be in that position, but it seems that many of the haves don’t want any of the haves not to have anything. Just let them die, it’s cheaper and more economical they say. Life has value. The sentiments expressed, herein, many of them have no sanctity for life. Wonder if you support abortion also.

          • VerminMcCann

Are you some kind of space alien?

          • nails88

Don’t lie about what I said, pal.

          • VerminMcCann

Deal. And you don’t falsely imply that I lied about what you said.

          • nails88

            I didn’t realize I was arguing with a 5 year old.

          • VerminMcCann

Yeah, it must be embarrassing. It’d be bad enough losing this badly to an adult.

          • nails88

HAHAHA! B***hslapping you around this evening has been a pleasant diversion.

          • VerminMcCann

HAHAHA! B***hslapping you around this evening has been a pleasant diversion. <—– Substantive.

          • VerminMcCann

            Don’t forget your bedtime helmet.

          • Corey Dennison

nails…you’re the one that has been getting thoroughly pimp-slapped, and you don’t even realize it.

          • VerminMcCann

Oh hey, here’s your chance! Shut me up by pointing out how I mischaracterized what you wrote. Either that, or pick up your teeth and slink back to the left side of the net where it’s safe for mushy-headed little progressives.

          • VerminMcCann

And I don’t think it’s fair to call what you do arguing. You just kind of write stuff.

          • nails88

Now, now. It’s OK to be embarrassed.

          • VerminMcCann

At least cite me if you’re going to copy my posts.

          • nails88

            Careful! Your desperation is showing.

          • VerminMcCann

            Still waiting.

          • VerminMcCann

Seriously, go ahead. Defend one of your points.

          • Corey Dennison

            It’s OK to be embarrassed.

A concept with which you seem to have coped with very well considering your ‘performance’ on this thread tonight.

          • Corey Dennison

Oh goody! Tell us all about what ‘Separation of Church and State’ means.

            (This should be good…)

          • ray hale

Did you get your reply?…I thought so!

          • nails88

I know most here are hopeless.
But it is amusing to invade their insulated little bubble and let the real world in.
Who knows, maybe one will actually venture outside and actually learn something.

          • ray hale

hope so, you know prayer works miracles for those who know the power of prayer…

          • VerminMcCann

Have you seen the Seinfeld episode where Kramer is giving his Real Peterman Bus Tour?

          • Corey Dennison

Take a moment to read this.

“By the way…if one plan doesn’t cover congenital birth defects…find another that does.” – Really? You need to educate yourself.

          • Corey Dennison

Yes…their story is very sad. But why is libs’ answer to EVERYTHING always MORE government?

By the way, If someone provides you a link to the American Heart Association and their advice on getting coverage for congenital defects, and you counter with a personal blog…it’s probably YOU that needs some education.

By the way…what are YOU doing to help the Lihn family? Are you digging into your own pockets? If so, good on you; otherwise, you are nothing but big talk. Why do you demand that the government take from everyone else’s pockets?

          • nails88

            Not more government. Better government.
Why give the most profitable companies on earth govt subsidies? Or the super wealthy tax loopholes?
Wouldn’t the money be better spent helping those that actually need the help? Or building infrastructure?
That’s the difference between the left and right today on govt spending.
            And yes, I give.

          • Corey Dennison

No…not ‘better government’…it’s ‘more government.’ The feds are basically taking over 1/6th of the economy. Hint: that’s MORE government.

          • nails88

If you are going to respond, then respond to what I said. Otherwise, don’t waste my time.

          • Corey Dennison

            Take your own advice.

And by the way…I did respond.

          • nails88

            useless.

          • Corey Dennison

Yes…you seem to make completely useless posts, don’t you?

NOW they try to have Jesus on their side?

  • Minarchism Leads To Freedom

Donchaknow, according to progressives, JC’s main message was all about forced charity.

  • nails88

Does anyone here think Jesus would kick kids off food stamps like the GOTP just did?
How about tax cuts for the rich? WWJD?
Using people’s sickness and disabilities to make a profit? Pretty sure Jesus wouldn’t look too kindly on those people.

    • Corey Dennison

Christianity: you really should try to learn what it’s really about, because you don’t seem to have the first clue as to what Jesus taught us.

      • nails88

Oh? Please explain where I went wrong.
Your lack of specifics is quite glaring!

        • Corey Dennison

You went wrong in trying to shoe-horn your moronic liberal talking points into Christ’s teachings.

          How’s THAT for specific?

          • nails88

It’s not. Not specific at all. Do you know what ‘specific’ means?
Try this. What about my original points is inaccurate? Go one by one.

          • Corey Dennison

            Ugh…where to begin?

As to your food stamps nonsense: go read Thessalonians and get back to us. That should keep your lips moving for a while.

By the way, Your ability to read Jesus’ mind–>mind…blowing. I’m sure He thinks it’s awesome that you can do that.

Man…I love when libs try yo use Scripture to back up their Marxist viewpoints.

          • nails88

“help the weak, be patient with everyone” That part?

Don’t need to read his mind. He was pretty explicit about how much he disliked the rich and loved the poor and the outcasts.

          • Corey Dennison

“help the weak, be patient with everyone” That part?

Can you find the part where He demanded that it is the job of the freaking GOVERNMENT to help the weak and be patient?

            I didn’t think you could…idiot.

          • nails88

Do you know what a ‘straw man’ argument is? Look it up. You just did it.

          • Corey Dennison

“Strawman”–I don’t think it means what you think it means.

          • VerminMcCann

Stop using terms you don’t understand.

          • VerminMcCann

You can complain about the quality of response you get when you stop writing profoundly stupid posts.

          • nails88

Then you should be able to easily dismantle my “stupid posts.” Yet, you revert to ad hominem attacks. Curious.

          • Corey Dennison

“Ad hominem”–you should look it up. When your posts are called stupid, that’s NOT ad hominem.

When I called you an idiot below…THAT’S ad hominem. And well-deserved.

          • nails88

Still waiting for a substantive argument. Should I not hold my breath?

          • Corey Dennison

As soon as you provide a substantive point to respond to…sure.

          • VerminMcCann

I didn’t make an ad hominem attack, and I don’t think you understand what “revert” means. Your post was stupid because you’ve based a policy argument on your interpretation of religious doctrine. Are you prepared to extend the same logic to other issues?: Are any liberals prepared to argue that Jesus would support killing babies?” Or “Do any Democrats really think the code of Hammurabi does’t prescribe amputation of thieves’ hands?” Would you support the GOP if it did argue that a given policy should be passed because Jesus would support it? If your answer to either question is no, then I’m sure you’ll understand why your post was idiotic.

          • nails88

I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t try to force his religious beliefs on others through act of law.

          • VerminMcCann

So He would disagree with your argument and agree with me that your post was really stupid? Neat.

          • nails88

            try again

          • VerminMcCann

…says the guy alleging lack of substantive responses.

          • Corey Dennison

You mean the way that liberals try to force their atheist sacrament of Abortion on Christians?

          • nails88

Who is forcing Christians to have abortions?

          • Corey Dennison

No…just forcing Christians to PAY for them.

            But you already knew that.

          • nails88

You get my money back for the Iraq war and oil company subsidies, I’ll write you a check.

          • Corey Dennison

YOUR money? Wow. Can I get MY money back for all the things the government wastes it on that I don’t agree with?

That IS how it works, right?

          • nails88

I was making a point. I’ll try again:
You don’t like your tax money going to things you don’t agree with, like abortion (even though there is the Hyde Amendment, but I digress). I don’t like my tax money going to things I don’t like, such as stupid wars for oil and give aways to the most profitable companies the world has ever know.
I rhetorically suggested an exchange, thereby emphasizing the enormous disparity in scale between the two.
            Get it now?

          • Corey Dennison

            Wars for oil?

When did we fight one of those? Because we didn’t get a whole lot from Iraq. And by that, I mean ‘jack squat.’

          • nails88

            Exxon sure did.

          • Corey Dennison

I get it now: Oil companies are eeeevil!

Why didn’t someone explain that? Wow, that clears everything up now!

          • VerminMcCann

You’re that kid who got stomped playing football and tried to change sports in the middle of the game, aren’t you?

          • thomaspainelives

You DO know that Exxon and other oil companies make less than 10% profit? Usually around 5%. The federal and state governments get 48 cents for every gallon of gas sold; oil companies get 8 cents. Yep, those oil companies are sure evil. And please show us a citation that shows Exxon profiting from Iraq.

“Iraq contributed to the company’s oil output. Exxon Mobil is working to increase lackluster production from one of Iraq’s biggest fields, the West Qurna field. Rosenthal said the company had hit its initial target, boosting production there by 10 percent to 320,000 barrels a day. There are three rigs working there now.”

“Despite Exxon Mobil’s investments in new oil developments in Canada, Angola, Kazakhstan and elsewhere around the globe, Iraq is by far its largest source of projected growth in the foreseeable future.”

            BOOM!

            That had to hurt.

          • Corey Dennison

Why should that have hurt? You realize that their profit margins won’t increase and that the government will still get a hefty chuck of whatever profit Exxon may garner from Iraq?

You’re not very good at this. (By the way…before you get all ‘boom-y’ next time…provide the actual link.)

          • KCTed

The Chinese are the big winners in Iraq. They get the lion’s share of oil and they never fired a shot or took sides.

          • ray hale

Not all democrats support abortion just as not all republicans are against abortion. Stop skewing the truth, or trying to.

          • thomaspainelives

Yet the Christians are attacked every day. I’m pretty sure Jesus wouldn’t be good with that. You just show your stupidity every time you reply on this thread. You also show that you’re not a Bible scholar or religious.

          • nails88

Are you trying to tell me that white christians are subjugated in this country? Do you have any idea how deluded you sound?
And I know the bible all too well. That’s why I’m an atheist.

          • thomaspainelives

Fights to take crosses off public property, rants about taxing churches, forcing people to forgo saying Merry Christmas, the list goes on and on. Yet Muslims can’t be touched. Go figure.

          • nails88

Telling fundamentalist christians to stop forcing their religion down other people’s throats isn’t persecution – it’s self-defense.
If you were beating me with a stick, and I took it away from you, you would probably claim that i was persecuting your right to beat people with sticks.

          • Corey Dennison

I don’t think you know it nearly as well as you think you do.

          • VerminMcCann

Well, I dismantled your stupid post.

            What now?

      • ray hale

        …then neither do you…

    • LastMomStanding

GOP food stamp cuts don’t include families with children. Just long-time loafers who won’t get up off of that couch and go look for a job. But, you wouldn’t know that because you only know left-wing tactics of throwing lies out and hope they stick, rather than researching facts.
I also don’t think you speak for Jesus.

      • nails88

Not true. “The bill also scrubs a provision that gives states the option to allow some working families and seniors to get food stamps, even if they have a little more in total assets that allowed by the eligibility rules.”

        • $21114026

Blessed are those that crush and suck the brains out of babies in their mother’ wombs; for they shall be called Democrats.

      • ray hale

that’s a lie, already in Ohio, food stamp allotments have been cut across the board…

    • TocksNedlog

Jesus didn’t spout left-wing talking points.

      • nails88

You obviously aren’t familiar with the beatitudes.

        • Corey Dennison

Really? Where did the beatitudes mention confiscatory taxes, wealth redistribution, abortion-on-demand, gay marriage and government-mandated health insurance?

          I must have missed those.

          • nails88

Again with the straw man arguments…..

          • Corey Dennison

Again with the misunderstanding of what a ‘strawman’ is.

            I listed SPECIFIC liberal beliefs.

          • nails88

            Just not mine. Try again.

          • Corey Dennison

What exactly do YOU think is ‘liberal’ about the beatitudes?

          • nails88

10 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
            for they will be comforted.
            5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
            for they will be filled.
            7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
            for they will see God.
            9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

            What a Lefty!!!!!

          • Corey Dennison

Yay! You can cut and paste! But what about those is ‘liberal?’ What is ‘leftist’ about those?

He sounds like one of those Conservative ‘bitter clingers’ Obama talked about to me.

          • nails88

            Blessed are the money changers
            Blessed are the war profiteers
            Blessed are the polluters
            Blessed are the 1%

            Those are conservative beliefs nowadays.

          • Corey Dennison

            Actually…no they’re not.

But congratulations on providing us all with a perfect example of a strawman argument! You finally got it!

          • nails88

            You are hopeless.

          • Corey Dennison

Thank you for admitting that you have no substantive replies.

          • thomaspainelives

Bub, without that 1%, you and your friends wouldn’t have anything. They pay 37% of ALL taxes. Top 5% paid more than 50%. Bottom 50% paid NOTHING!

          • ray hale

            SO WHAT…

          • thomaspainelives

So what? You think the top 25% should pay all the taxes? I’ve got news for you bub, that’s socialism, communism, marxism (take your pick of the isms). The first settlers learned that communism didn’t work, thats why they almost starved to death.

          • ray hale

Really, I thought it was because they didn’t know what they were doing, had it not been for the Indians help, they would have died, and look how the Indians got paid back…

          • Corey Dennison

Holy crap…you’re invoking Squanto now? You really don’t have anything left, do you?

          • ray hale

Plenty, but you are not making any points. Address the issue of why I made the comment.

          • nails88

Not true at all. More RW misinfo.
Sales taxes. Ever hear of them? Yeah.
So you are unequivocally, demonstrably, objectively wrong. You need to find a new source of information.

          • thomaspainelives

PROVE IT! I can give you citations for every one of those figures from the Federal Government. You ARE an idiot.

          • nails88

Prove that there are sales taxes? What planet do you live on?

          • thomaspainelives

Prove I’m “demonstrably wrong” you twaddlepate. Again, you act superior, condescending, and, like most leftist, won’t try to back up your claims.

          • nails88

Here you go: There are sales taxes, right?

Everything anyone buys is taxed. Therefore, everyone pays taxes. Therefore, “Bottom 50% paid NOTHING!”, is not true. Food, gas, clothes, etc., etc., These are regressive taxes, meaning that the higher your income, the lower the percentage of it you pay toward these taxes.

Those numbers you quote, which every RW parrot quotes, are about federal income tax. That is only on piece of the tax base. It doesn’t include property tax, corporate tax, excise tax, import/export tax, SALES TAX, etc., etc., etc., Therefore, “They pay 37% of ALL taxes” is a lie as well.

Do I need to draw you pictures? I could do that, too.

          • Corey Dennison

Federal income taxes…you ever hear of them?

          • KCTed

Wrong,, the emerging conservatives are quite adamant about going after central banks, the Federal Reserve, non-intervention military policies, etc..
You should learn about the changes in the wind from those who struggle to retrieve constitutional correctness.

          • thomaspainelives

Gee, you can type in the Bible. As Corey said, what’s liberal about that? The persecuted today are white, male, Christians who take care of their families. They also don’t believe in abortion (I’m pretty sure Jesus didn’t either).

          • nails88

HAHAHA! I’m gonna save your post. Perfect illustration of Tea Party Persecution Syndrome.

          • ray hale

          • thomaspainelives

You know, you and nails there are true trolls. You present arguments with no facts, attack people who DO present facts, pull stuff out of your twisted minds, and, in general, act like you know everything. It would be NICE if you provided facts to support your theses. A couple of losers, that’s all you are.

          • nails88

I gave you hard facts on Exxon and taxes.
            You live in fantasy land.

          • Corey Dennison

You have yet to provide anything but liberal talking points and platitudes.

          • thomaspainelives

What facts? You just throw poo and hope it sticks. You’re so pig headed and ignorant I’ve given up explaining debate, rhetoric, or the subject with you. Enjoy your life consistently acting like an idiot.

          • ray hale

I just happened to agree w/what nails said, I do have that right, right? FYI I never presented no THESIS, do you know what an opinion is? Hopefully, you do, then get a grip. I’m not trying to change your mind about anything just expressing my opinion, don’t care about your facts, they can be twisted and manipulated to support whatever your opinion or belief is we all do it. I just wanted to know why you feel the way you do about being white and male.

          • Jeff Coil

      • nails88

He sure as hell wouldn’t force his religion on other people like you want to do, “precious”.

        • Jeff Coil

“Wouldn’t force his religion on other people”??!!! OMG ROTHFMAO! It always cracks me up when libtards who don’t know the first thing about Jesus or his teachings try to tell Christians what Jesus would do.

          • nails88

OK, explain to me why you think Jesus would force his beliefs on other people. I’d love to hear it.

          • Jeff Coil

Because, a$$hole, he said “I am the truth and the way, nobody comes to the Father except through me”. In short, if you are not a Christian, you are going to burn in hell.

Now please explain to me how ANYBODY outside radical Islam is trying to “force” their religion on anybody else? I’d love to hear it.

          • ray hale

Wow, is that what you really think Christianity is about…?

          • Corey Dennison

Wow, have you never read the bible, or did you just not understand Jeff’s post?

        • $21114026

Actually, that’s EXACTLY what he did, Precious. Don’t you know anything? (Ummm…don’t answer that.) Also, I noticed that you didn’t deny or condemn the slaughter of babies in a mother’s womb….just sayin’….

    • Jeff Coil

So you think doctors should work as slaves? And their is no such thing as “tax cuts for the rich”. Tax cuts are for everyone who pays taxes. Jesus certainly would not approve of stealing, which is what liberals do. Please point out any verse in the bible that backs up your ridiculous claims. You cant because I am pretty sure you have never even read the bible.

Bette Midler, nobody can judge the heart; only God can do such a thing (Hebrews 4:12). You don’t know if Ted Cruz is a Christian anymore than you know that I’m a brain surgeon. • ray hale

I’m not sure of your comment, but the comment was an analogy of how she felt towards Bette Midler, when she found out what some of Midler’s views differed from her own views. My impression was that she reacted the same way some children do when they think of their parents having sex, you know, that, “icky” feeling you get about certain things. Sorry if the “sex analogy” offended you. I used that analogy, because it is one that I thought the most people would get. obviously, you didn’t get it, so you missed the point, and tried to make my comment into some lurid sex tirade.

    • ray hale

People like you miss out on a lot of possibilities in life because of your incessant, constant desire to characterize people according to your own individual prejudices, stereotyping and over generalizations. Whatever happened to agreeing to disagree and then move on. I don’t mean just you and people who think, feel, and act like you, but people in general. Why do you choose, editorially you speaking, to behave and express yourself in the manner and way that you choose. STANDING ON QUEUE AT THE GROCERY, bored, I scanned the gossip rags and this headline popped out: “Hawiian Woman Born With Her Brains In Her Bazooma’s Survives Into Her Mid-60’s!” Amazing, I thought. Moving on to another I saw this: TITULAR TWEETER ASKS: “MR. CRUZ! Do your kids know that you voted for healthcare for life for yourself while denying it to others?” I couldn’t see who said it, but it sounded like something a moron might Tweet…like someone whose brains are in her ‘BAZOOMA’S.’ Still another headline screamed in 18pt type: “70% OF AMERICAN’S DON’T WANT O’CRAPCARE!” At that point it was my turn, finally. My grocery has dropped so many people to avoid O’CrapCare fines it takes a little while onger to shop, have you notices? But in 30 minutes I was home, dining on delicious Green Egg’s & Ham. It just sounded good. Sounded patriotic!
