As citizens remember September 11 and Truther cretins mark the 12th anniversary with soulless snark, former Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer took to Twitter to share his intense firsthand account as a witness to history.

    And that’s how it’s done…K, 0bama ?

    • Eric Johnson

It’s above Obama’s pay grade. ugh.

      • Andrew Fishman

It’s above his f*ing IQ level.

        It’s above his IQ level.

        • Deborah Hallsted

It’s all his teleprompters fault. It has the low IQ, it just can’t keep up with Barry.

  • Unicorns and Rainbows

Awesome! I had almost forgotten what real Presidential leadership looked like.

  • Texan357

    Goosebumps. No lie.

  • John Ansell

Under attack, President Bush says “we’re at war”. Under attack, President Obama says “stand down.” Elections have consequences and America has been slapped in the face with the last two presidential elections.

  • Jack Deth

I was at Andrews AFB that day. And at first, couldn’t believe the amount of completely false information and “news” that was being reported around DC. Then flashed back to how inept DC’s Metro Police were when President Reagan was shot. And how many “Big Three” reporters and talking heads were proclaiming his death before, during and after surgery.

Also remember seeing AF-1 touching down just around sunset, Sept. 11, 2001 with two loaded for bear F-15s in the lead. And two more at circling and landing about ten minutes later.

To quote Janet Napolitano: “The system worked!”

    • Eric D. Mertz

I remember when AF1 flew over KC on the way to Offut AFB with the POTUS aboard. The MCI traffic pattern led directly over my school, and the sky was constantly full of contrails and aircraft. It was empty and CLEAR – no clouds – until AF1 appeared overhead.

My Seventh Grade class had been called down to the library to watch the coverage on CNN as it happened, and we had watched the towers fall. We had watched the second plane hit. Every single one of us stopped and turned and watched as the plane flew over us. None of the younger kids understood what was going on, and kept asking us, but we had been told not to tell them. It was surreal.

  • WhoDat

That was one hell of a day. This day is always a somber one for me, my generation’s Pearl Harbor.

I know it’s easy to take shots at Obama, but could we refrain from that for today.

    • Unicorns and Rainbows

Sure. Just as soon as he starts respecting America and the Constitution I’ll give it a try.

Sorry, the overwhelming inequity is too great.

I don’t think any of us will forget where we were that day, or the stories of the terror attacks, or the images of the WTC towers falling. I think we’ll all remember those who died that day. I will always remember as a tribute to them.

May God bless their families, may He bless the families of the military members fighting for our freedom, and, yes, may God bless America and keep her safe.

  • Guest

What have we learned and what has been corrected since 9/11. Better cockpit doors-check. Hidden transponders on planes-check. Better communication between AF and other military instillations with FAA-? TSA security- yet they allow some knives on planes-why? We are so concerned with criminal/terrorist profiling being racist we only aid terrorists. When we stop being afraid to offend people will we be able to stop planes from being used as missiles, thats what I learned from 9/11. I will continue to take my shoes off, go through scanners, get a pat down, open my carry on luggage without whining. I owe it to all those who died that day to do what is in my power to never let it happen again.

    • Eric Johnson

The 9/11 hijackers would have been stopped on 9/12 by the combined actions of three groups of people on the planes everyday. Before 9/11 passengers & crew were told to obey hijackers, to be sheep. On 9/12 we are all mad as hell billy goats! First, the pilot & copilots would not have allowed anyone in cockpit. Secondly, the stewards would be combative. Third, all passengers would be getting involved in fighting the hijackers before they had a chance to get into the cockpit.

Hijackers with some small knives won’t have a chance against this kind of actions by everyone on board. Thus I’m not really impressed with all of the stuff TSA has us going through on flights these days. Ben Franklin had something to say about this: They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty.

      • Dean

Completely agree with Eric. Why disarm the passengers – they have been the ones that stopped every event since 9-11.

  • Dirty.Mississippi

The Obama haters here are disgusting. You should be ashamed. Your inability to set aside your hatred in marking this anniversary dishonors those who died.

    • Clete Torres

      Suck it, troll.

      • US vs. Them

Yeah you lefty, socialist, wealth-distributing America-hater! If we wanna commemorate the anniversary of the worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor by insulting this Kenyan (bad) socialist (because thats bad and everyone knows that – even if they dont know what it is) Muslim (Satan – even if it is the same God) then thats OUR AMERICAN RIGHT. Freedom.

        • Dirty.Mississippi

When you resort to name calling you admit defeat. Thank you for acknowleging that you have no valid counter to my comment.

      • Dirty.Mississippi

To resort to name calling is to admit defeat. Thank you for admitting that you have no valid counter to my comment.

    • ked5

well, bless your heart. your mommy’s calling you for bedtime.

      • Dirty.Mississippi

LMAO – you’re hilarious. But it is truly sad that you appear incapable of any response to my comment other than a juvenille attempt at mockery.

        • Tracy Hubbell-Linden

it’s because you’re not worth wasting time and intelligence on. now, sod off, sheep.

  • bjuarez

obama has no clue what it is to lead w/o a teleprompter..

    • stuckinIL4now

Even with it he’s still not leading–the teleprompter is.

      • Deborah Hallsted

It can’t keep up for G*ds sake, give it a break! It doesn’t even have legs!

  • KansasGirl

I still tear up, thinking what these poor souls endured before their passing.
I remember a documentary on youtube called “The Falling Man”, it was overwhelming…to say the least.

    • DixieAngel_76

Yes, I’ve heard stories of people’s skin falling off as they tried to run down the stairwells.

      • KansasGirl

        So horrific. *sigh*

  • Maxx

…this reminds me of what might have been, if Mitt had won. Strong, no BS conservative leadership. Not Obama swinging for solutions in some pathetic political pinata.

  • tk10

Ari’s book “Taking Heat’ is amazing if you haven’t read it, very much recommend…

  • Unicorns and Rainbows

I can imagine if Obama had been President on 9/11: Let’s see, an angry speech, some talking points, a few digs at “intolerant Muslim haters on the Right”, something about it being the “previous administration’s” fault, maybe a quick golf game, then some down-low fun with Reggie Love.

    • CHHR

Oh… snap! You mean an “unbelievably small” “little smack on the wrist crap”

  • Clete Torres

    Goosebumps. Literally.

  • LinTaylor

I will admit I didn’t agree with everything President Bush did, but unlike the man currently squatting in the White House, I never once doubted his dedication or his resolve to do the right thing.

    • Unicorns and Rainbows

Agreed! I disagreed with Bush on a number of things. Unlike the libs that pivot every time Obama does. But a few things I could tell about the man, he loves this country, he loves his family, and he was not scared of protecting both.

      • DixieAngel_76

My nephew met him when he was on a battleship that Bush had landed on. He said he was a really nice, humble man, talking to all the sailors who wanted to, shaking hands and even posing for pictures with them. I have a hard time imagining the current occupant of the White House doing that.

  • Quart

I can’t stand Obama, and I wasn’t a big fan of Bush; but the one thing I could always say about Bush that I can’t about Obama is that Bush loves this country. He made that obvious in the days following 9/11 with the words he said and the actions he took.

  • Deborah Hallsted

This was an amazing thread. So thankful for the many who gave everything they could to pull us through this. The contrast between Bush and Barry couldn’t be greater.
