Kasey Kahne and the Michigan Lottery can share the prize for “most ironic photo of the week.” Kahne, who was leading the Quicken Loans 400 when the crash occurred, walked away from the accident—not to mention the first place prize money. It’s possible Kahne went and bought a lottery ticket instead, but that’s doubtful.

I’m not sure that this is a case of irony, but I’ve only a vague notion of the concept.

      I’ve = I have.

      Same for grammar.

      • Neill Augustine

Yeah, you really showed that grammar nazzy, You, eh..? Y’know, I probably missed an edit somewhere in the course of the day, but that contraction, in that sentence and context, is not incorrectly used. Humor me? and ‘splain why your reply was necessary?

        • Bumr50

          Hmmm.

I guess that I was right the first time.

I remember getting into lots of trouble with English profs for contracting the verb “to have,” and so maybe I’m just a bit gunshy about doing it.

          Things like “could’ve” and such.

          • Neill Augustine

Well, I do wish your old prof could smack this latest generation on the nose with a rolled up newspaper, and straighten out the ‘could OF’ pandemic, before someone decides it belongs in the dictionary.

“I guess that I was right the first time.”

Omit the word ‘that’ from your statement, you used it for no true reason. The reason you wrote it is similar to why people saying “uhh” when speaking… spitting out one word makes it easier to concentrate on which word(s) follow. It’s a typical bad habit.

It is a case of Irony, or it wouldn’t have made it into the Pressery….ok, it sounded kind of punny when I thought of it.

      I should just hang it up….on a clothesline. I hope I didn’t wrinkle anyone’s Starch.

I might as well fold up on this topic.

      • SineWaveII

Ok Phil that’s enough of that. Time to leave the bar and go home now. Seriously.
        ;–)

    • Riley Secrist

I see what you did there.

It was a bad day for all the Hendrick Racing drivers; First, Jeff Gordon (MY MAN!) Ran into Bobby Labonte, causing him to finish several laps down; then, Casey slammed the wall, while leading; Dale Earnhart Jr. led a few laps, then lost his engine; and Jimmy Johnson caught the worst break, losing a tire with only a few laps left.. Even Danica Patrick finished ahead of them all (13th).
    But, Casey had the worst case of Irony.. #Nascar Jawamax 8<{D}

  • Jay Stevens

Not irony. Just a simple unfortunate coincidence based on the sign he “chose” to crash in front of.

    • SineWaveII

No it’s more coincidence than irony.

  • JustLikeAnimals

    Couldn’t Photoshop that!

Last I heard the City of Detroit was buying up all of the Michigan Lottery tickets in their latest financial reorganization attempt. Because you know good things happen.
