Another wave of layoffs hits as Clinton Global Initiative winds down amid cuts in foreign donations

Cody Derespina of Fox News reports Monday that an additional 22 employees are being laid off from the Clinton Global Initiative as the plan to shutter the foundation moves ahead.

Bill Clinton announced the plan to wind down the CGI last August, when the Clintons “were under pressure to explain how they would handle potential conflicts of interest with their namesake foundation if Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton were to win the White House.” That obviously didn’t happen, but the plan to close up shop is moving ahead nonetheless.

A notice that 74 employees would be laid off was issued last October.

Derespina reports that donations to CGI have dried up quickly since the election:

… since Clinton’s presidential election loss in November, other donors have cut back or stopped giving to the overarching Clinton Foundation, too. After 10 years and more than $88 million in donations, the Australian government decided against renewing its partnership with the foundation, news.com.au reported. Norway reduced its giving from $20 million in 2015 to $4.2 million in 2016.

What a blow … to not only lose the election but see a significant drop in foreign donations pouring into your foundation, almost as if there were some connection.
