Coup in Mali

From CNN:

Renegade Malian soldiers declared Thursday they have seized power in the nation amid fury over the government’s handling of a growing insurgency in the north.

Forces have taken over the nation, suspended the constitution and dissolved all public institutions until further notice, said Amadou Konare, a spokesman for the soldiers.

The military has formed the National Committee for the Restoration of Democracy and State to work as a transitional government, he said.

He accused the government of not providing the security forces with the means to battle local Tuareg nomads whose uprising has grown as fellow rebels returned after fighting for ousted Libyan ruler, Moammar Gadhafi.
