California Governor Gavin Newsom says forget about this week’s massive scandal swirling around Maine Senate nominee Graham Platner; that’s all in the past. Sure, the Democrat suspended his campaign over sexual assault allegations on Wednesday, but it’s ancient history. Newsom wasn’t done spewing nonsense: he dropped a whopper of a lie by claiming Platner wasn’t vetted enough.
Platner’s been bad news since he decided to run for office in August of last year, Gavin. (WATCH)
Gavin Newsom says “clearly there wasn’t enough vetting done” on Platner and it’s time to stop looking at the past.

How convenient. pic.twitter.com/0oh5nSEoC7
Democrats want us all to forget about Platner as they ditch democracy in Maine.
Posters find it hilarious, but typical, that Newsom wants something negatively affecting the Democrat Party to be immediately forgotten.
The past, being the last 24 hours.

Convenient for a guy who loses billions.
lol. “The past?” Is he talking about current ongoing situation?
— Angela 💭 (@ms_babyrussell) July 9, 2026
Even funnier than calling it “the past” is a democrat saying we must move on from the past.
'the past' The entire 'vetting' process hinges on the past. Also, 'the past' in this case was yesterday. Like 7/9/2026, and he's already bawling for people to forget.

People are never going to forget that the Democrats nominated a Nazi no matter how hard Newsom wants to wish it away.
Commenters find it laughable that Newsom thinks Platner wasn’t vetted enough. His off-putting past was well-known, and voters nominated him despite it.
Not vetted?? What a joke! The guy literally had an SS extermination camp tattoo, multiple women coming out claiming he was abusive and unfit, openly provided weapons training to leftist-anarchists, talked down to wounded veterans, etc.

Platner told a big fat lie about a Nazi tattoo. His claim that he didn’t know that it was from a Nazi death camp crew, branded him as either a liar or an idiot. Either way his political career should have died.

Yes, he was vetted. pic.twitter.com/iRXgL0zJs4

"Voters came out to win the primary for a guy they knew was a Nazi, but only because he wasn't vetted enough"
— melanie haber 🏴☠️ (@melsorbit) July 9, 2026
If only voters knew more about Platner than his affinity for Nazi ink, they would have had second thoughts about sending him to the U.S. Senate. That’s as silly as it sounds.
Posters say they’re going to call out the Democrat Party for again ignoring the will of its voters.
No, Gavin. We are not moving on.
— geek en vogue (@geekenvogue) July 9, 2026
We are going to keep reminding everyone how democrats subvert democracy by invalidating primary votes, and them let a group of people select the candidate. Biden, now Platner.
History is a teacher and learning from it should assist you in not repeating the same mistakes. Except, of course, for Dem elites who continually make the same mistakes over and over again!!
— Bob Wade (@BobWade534726) July 9, 2026
Platner hasn’t even formally withdrawn yet lol
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) July 9, 2026
I really hope he doesn’t.

Platner has suspended his campaign but has not officially withdrawn his name from the race. There’s still a chance he doesn’t leave the contest by Monday, and his name goes on the ballot. It would be hilarious for the ‘past’ to bite Newsom and his fellow Democrats on the butt in the near future.
