Republican Congressman Mike Rogers is SWAT-ted; Update: Patterico notes a 'curious coincidence involving Neal Rauhauser'

Last night, SWAT-ting came to Congress. Via Wood TV:

The heavy police presence seen outside of Congressman Mike Rogers’ Howell home on Saturday night was called there because of an “unfortunate prank,” the congressman said in a statement.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department told Lansing affiliate WILX that it was “a high-priority situation.” Police cleared the scene by 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

Rep. Mike Rogers, a Republican from Michigan, describes it as a “prank.”

Not really. We suggest Rep. Rogers read this letter from Sen. Saxby Chambliss to Attorney General Eric Holder.

He should also read this post by Patterico, an influential conservative blogger who was himself SWAT-ted two years ago:

You’re about to listen to one of the most bone-chilling pieces of audio you will ever hear. At least, it was to me when I first heard it.

It’s a phone call that could have gotten me killed.

In this post you will hear that audio clip. You will also read about a months-long campaign of harassment carried out by at least three individuals: Ron Brynaert, Neal Rauhauser, and Brett Kimberlin — much of it directed at critics of Brett Kimberlin.

Kimberlin is a far-left felon whose organizations are funded by the Tides Foundation, Streisand Foundation, and Heinz Foundation. He has turned the lives of several conservative bloggers, including Patterico, into nightmares with his relentless, spine-chilling campaign to suppress their speech.

Other conservatives who have been SWAT-ted:  Erik RushAaron Walker, and Erick Erickson.

There are people out there who continue to see nothing wrong with SWAT-tings:

We believe Rep. Rogers is the first member of Congress to be SWAT-ted. Unfortunately, he won’t be the last.
