COVID19 made things worse in so many ways, but if there’s been one silver lining, it’s that parents have become even more acutely aware of the damage done by public sector teachers’ unions.
So many children lost a year of schooling due to shutdowns and teachers’ union campaigns against in-person teaching, suffering not just academically, but also socially, emotionally, and mentally. COVID19 blew the lid off of the toxicity that infects so much of the public school system.
And as a result of that, parents have taken notice and taken steps to protect their kids from further harm. That’s why, as traditional public schools struggle, charter schools are thriving:

If the public schools can't deliver, you see the alternatives rise.
I've seen the malfeasance led by @rweingarten, who from the beginning pushed an agenda where basic education was always secondary.
This is great news. https://t.co/jUdS7JC9DC

What great news! It looks like they're doing what they purport to do, which is remove the state's control on curriculum and allow parents to make their own choices for their children. Less State, less hate.

One important note:
charter schools are public schools.

Other public schools could learn a great deal from charter schools.
Great news for these hundreds of thousands of students!
Plus research from @DeAngelisCorey shows that as charter school presence increases, public schools step up their game to compete.
