The ACLU is not a serious organization for serious people. Here’s how you know:
That’s their response to the Supreme Court ruling in favor of a student who had been barred from her school’s cheerleading squad for a profanity-laced Snapchat post in response to not qualifying for the varsity team.
But there were plenty of indications before that that the ACLU is not a serious organization. This is just one of them:
BREAKING: We are demanding that Uber Eats end its practice of misgendering and deadnaming trans drivers.

Our client Laine Repic, who is a Kansas-based driver, has faced harassment and discrimination because the Uber Eats app shows his former name to customers.
Uber Eats, in spite of being contacted by Laine repeatedly, has not made updates to their app.

Everyone should have access to an accurate ID.
We’re asking the Biden administration to lead and issue an executive order so that trans, non-binary and intersex people can have IDs that reflect who we are. https://t.co/2vafOOG9NA

This is how the American Civil Liberties Union spends their time and energy. Selling “F*CK” t-shirts and complaining about Uber Eats referring to a trans person by their given legal name.
Where are your priorities?

This has to be parody.

Every tweet from @ACLU now validates my decision to suspend my donations.

For what it’s worth, Uber Eats has addressed the ACLU’s complaint directly:
We deeply apologize for the pain this caused Laine. We've made the change, however we should have done better here.
We recently updated our policies: delivery people can now choose to display their self-identified first name without requiring the display of their legal name.

Honestly, this might’ve been a more appropriate response to the ACLU:
BREAKING: Bite me. https://t.co/dldwoUpReu
