As this past weekend wound down, Florida Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Charlie Crist went begging for money from supporters who are dumb enough to think that Ron DeSantis is a “wannabe dictator who is going to lose” the upcoming election.

Well, evidently Charlie Crist hasn’t heard about a recent poll of Hispanic voters in Florida.
Overall, DeSantis leads Crist by 51% to 44% statewide among those voters, and 56% approve of the job the governor is doing, compared with 41% who don’t, the survey conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy, found.

“There are lots of Hispanic voters in this state who really like the governor’s style, this strongman who won’t back down. And Crist has no mojo,” said Coker, who conducted the bilingual survey of 625 likely Hispanic voters from Oct. 17-22. The error margin is 4 percentage points.
Few issues exemplify DeSantis’ take-on-all-comers approach to politics than his open-for-business management of the Covid pandemic over the past two years and his decision last month to fly about 50 Venezuelan migrants from San Antonio, Texas, to the Massachusetts island of Martha’s Vineyard to make a statement about President Joe Biden’s border policies.

Amid all the controversy, Florida Hispanics side with the governor on the Martha’s Vineyard flight, with 50% in favor and 43% opposed to the relocation, according to the poll. Independents joined Republicans in lending majority support to the governor on the issue while Democrats were opposed.

Poor Angela doesn’t see the irony in that tweet. All Hispanics are not the same … but Democrats treat them as a monolith and take their votes for granted.
And now Ron DeSantis is poised to not just throttle Charlie Crist, but to do it with the support of a lot of Hispanic voters who are rightly fed up with national Democratic leadership.
