JB Pritzker, heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune, dropping philosophy on the peasants Saturday like he just discovered work exists.

When your family already owns the hotels, “the grind” is something other people do so you can stay in the penthouse and tweet about how unfair life is. The man has a net worth north of $4 billion. His idea of a tough morning is deciding which staffer fetches the extra croissant. And now he’s here to tell working Illinoisans that punching a clock until you drop is somehow beneath them.

As governor, I owe you more than that. And I'm ready to fight like hell to get it.
Meanwhile, under this same governor, Illinois has piled on tax and fee hikes by the dozen. Residents have watched billions in personal income walk out the door to Florida, Texas, Indiana, and Wisconsin.
Polls keep showing half the state would leave tomorrow if they could.
The Bears are heading to Indiana. People aren’t “grinding until they die.” They’re grinding until they can afford the U-Haul.
But sure, JB. Fight like hell. Fight for another term. Fight for more programs funded by the people still stuck paying the bill. Just don’t pretend the guy who never had to clock in understands why so many of your constituents treat “getting up and going to work” like a survival strategy instead of a lifestyle choice.
Life isn’t supposed to be an endless grind. On that we agree.
The difference is some of us think the way out is opportunity, lower taxes, and a state people actually want to stay in. Pritzker’s version looks a lot like “let me keep running things while I explain why your paycheck shouldn’t have to stretch this far.”
Fight like hell, Governor. Illinoisans have been doing it for years. They’re just not doing it for you anymore.
