Krystal Ball, never one to miss a chance to wave the pom-poms for the far left, recently gushed over an analysis highlighting Zohran Mamdani and Abdul El-Sayed as the charismatic Muslim progressive duo supposedly storming the Democratic Party.
Mamdani, the shiny new socialist mayor of New York City who rode free buses and rent freezes into office, and El-Sayed, the Michigan Senate nominee fresh off toppling an establishment rival, get painted as the future. The shared secret sauce? Not factory workers or the actual struggling masses, but that reliable progressive base of educated millennials and Gen Z types with advanced degrees and strong opinions on everything except how to pay for the utopia.
NEW: Zohran Mamdani and Abdul El-Sayed are young, charismatic, Muslim leftists who talk affordability in three-part slogans.

But the most important thing they share is the coalition—young, educated, middle-class—taking the Democratic Party by storm:https://t.co/2NWmiEMjHf
Cue the cheering from Ball:
Excellent analysis of the left’s growing coalition. https://t.co/2jVJY2oDYd

Ball called the breakdown “excellent,” which tracks for someone whose idea of populism often skips the parts involving blue-collar voters who might prefer jobs over slogans. Or Democrats who actually don't have the Jews and understand that socialism and especially communism are very dangerous and could destroy our country.
No no, she's cheering the jihadi-sympathizers on because Trump bad or fascism or whatever talking point they think works with non-thinkers out there lapping this nonsense up.
Not to mention, these candidates talk a big game on costs while the movement that elevates them thrives on the very privilege of higher education and urban middle-class comfort.
Mamdani’s NYC experiment and El-Sayed’s primary win might thrill the progressive media set, but turning the Democrat Party into a showcase for young, slogan-happy leftists risks alienating the voters who actually decide elections outside the coastal echo chambers.
Ball doesn't get it — Democrats are in TROUBLE.
