Ray Allen was the first Celtic to arrive at the team’s shoot-around in preparation for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight against the Miami Heat.
That’s nice, but is it surprising? The NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made has declined in form this season and was pretty terrible against the Heat in Game 1. He played almost 39 minutes yet only scored six points on 1-7 shooting. This is against a Miami team that all season has clogged the middle on defense yet gives up the shot from the outside.
He’s scored 20.0 points per game in his career, shot 45-percent from the field and 89-percent from the free throw line but in the playoffs this year he’s down to 9.6 points per game on 39-percent shooting while shooting a terrible 60-percent from the charity stripe. And the only reason he’s even starting is because Avery Bradley injured his shoulder.
Looks like Jesus Shuttlesworth is getting shut down.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers walked into shootaround, saw Ray Allen shooting and cracked, "I've been looking for Ray all morning!"

@gwashnbaglobe #rayallen My 7-year-old said, "He needs more arc." I think the kid has a point.

This playoffs, Ray Allen's free throw shooting % is worse than Gary Neal's 2pt shooting %. Yes, Gary Neal.
