James Talarico’s campaign isn’t bothering with the long version of Ken Paxton’s Uvalde comments. It’s going with the blunt one: that Texas’s attorney general looked at the slaughter of 19 kids and two teachers and called it God’s plan. Pair that with a photo of Paxton and footage-style images from Robb Elementary, and you’ve got a Senate ad in tweet form.

What’s missing is the rest of what Paxton actually said in 2022 — that the shooting was senseless, that he couldn’t pretend to explain it, and that he was talking about faith as comfort, not a divine green light for murder.
That Talarico would go this low says a lot about him as a person, just not a candidate or his campaign. This is ugliness in its purest and most obvious form.

When you see the whole quote it resonates.
You'd think a candidate like Talarico who is desperate to play the, 'I'm a Christian' card, would feel ashamed over a deliberate misquote like that one.
Having distorted basic Christian theology to fit his worldview, Talarico is now distorting Paxton’s statement, which is actually much more sensible and a (if not “the”) mainstream view in Christianity.
