This Is BIG! Abdul El-Sayed Just Lost a BIG Endorsement (Especially in Michigan!) to Mike Rogers

The Detroit News just told Michigan something a lot of national Democrats would rather not hear out loud: the Republican is the adult in the Senate race.

It's true.

The paper’s editorial board is backing former Rep. Mike Rogers over Democrat nominee Abdul El-Sayed, and it is not dressing the choice up as a coin flip. Rogers gets the “best choice” label. El-Sayed gets the other label — the one that follows a primary winner who spent months running as a progressive star and now has to explain the baggage that came with the brand. Endorsements from the News are not magic. This one lands differently because the Democrat on the ballot is not the institutional moderate the party preferred.

It is the candidate Republicans have been begging to face, and a major Detroit paper just said it is not even close.

Mike Rogers is the prototype of a United States Senator.
He spent 14 years in the House of Representatives, rising to chair of the vital Intelligence Committee. The 63-year-old Republican left Congress at the end of 2014, having been elected to his House seat seven times by his mid-Michigan constituents.

Seems big, right? At least for people in Michigan.
