The moment landed because it broke the unofficial rule of these ceremonies: names only, no politics, no fingerprints on the countries that still get the red-carpet treatment. Strada used her minute at the podium to say the thing families have been saying in court filings for years.

Bush was in the seats. So were Obama and Biden. Vance was the one still in office, so she aimed the ask at him: take it back to Trump.

Whether any of them flinched on camera is almost beside the point. The crowd heard a widow talk like a prosecutor, and they treated it like the part of the morning that finally sounded true.
