NYPost Has a Maddening Example of 'Criminals First' Priorities From NYC Mayor Mamdani

At Rikers Island in New York, an accused murderer with more than two dozen prior arrests was found dead in his cell:

The inmate was identified as 41-year-old Clarence Woodward, an ex-con with nearly 30 arrests on his rap sheet, who was found unresponsive in his cell shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday while awaiting trial for murder in the gruesome 2024 attack at a Bronx laundromat.

That story saddened New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, but not for the victim. Mamdani wept for the career criminal.

The New York Post put it this way:

This is another example of socialist-style "priorities":

This is just insane:

I am deeply saddened by the death of a New Yorker in City custody at a jail on Rikers Island early this morning. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they grieve this loss.

We do not yet know the cause of death, but we do know that too many New Yorkers have died on Rikers Island. The Department of Correction and its oversight partners will investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Our administration is fully committed to the critical work of creating better conditions in our city’s jail system and closing Rikers Island as quickly as possible.

Rest assured, if Mamdani had his way that accused murderer with dozens of prior arrests would have been out wandering the streets.

Socialist Democrats do love their beloved criminals, illegal or otherwise.
