One of the greatest regrets of the Kamala Harris campaign after she lost was that she didn't appear on Joe Rogan's "conservative" podcast, where she could have reached millions of young, white men and turned them into White Dudes for Harris. Rogan was branded a conservative during the COVID-19 pandemic, when dinosaur musicians like Neil Young pulled their music from Spotify because Rogan was using what CNN termed "horse dewormer" and spreading disinformation by platforming Anthony Fauci skeptics.
And then there's comedian Shane Gillis, whom Saturday Night Live's Lorne Michaels reportedly hired in 2019 to appeal to more conservative viewers. Gillis appeared on Rogan's podcast recently, where the two mourned the lack of free healthcare for all in the United States. Rogan agreed that it was the problem with capitalism.
Shane Gillis: “Free healthcare is cool. We should have that. That’s not Communism”

Joe Rogan: “You should treat the entire country like it’s a community. If you have a community would you want the sickest person to fucking die who could be very valuable if you could take care of… pic.twitter.com/UXExWLCBvh
The post continues:
… them. This is the problem with capitalism. This is the reason people turn on all these billionaires”
"Turn on all these billionaires"? Luigi Mangioni just pleaded guilty on Friday to stalking UnitedHealthcare's CEO.
If only America had free healthcare…

Oh wait we do, we spend nearly a trillion annually on Medicaid to cover nearly one out of every four Americans. https://t.co/MRSqMBW2wR
We have free healthcare for a growing number of people paid for by a shrinking number of people.
— Oilfield Rando (@Oilfield_Rando) August 15, 2026
We even have it for illegal aliens.
That’s why it’s so expensive for the people who pay for it. It’s that simple, funny man. https://t.co/y751sm6YB4

It's always funny to see the people who actually do have the money to pay for other people's healthcare never actually do it, but man do they love talking about doing it.

Shane, no such thing as “free” healthcare. You’re confused along with the communists. 🤣
— Forged Autonomy (@ForgedAutonomy) August 15, 2026
We have free healthcare @Shanemgillis it’s called Medicaid.

What you seem to want is a system found in a utopia… And that is unfortunately where all successful communist projects can be found.
In a place that doesn’t exist.
Let's cut expenses and remove illegal aliens first. And why didn't Joe stay in California and help out with his huge fortune.

Nobody thinks free healthcare isn't cool, but when Canada and Europe's millionaires and billionaires come to America for treatment it doesn't speak confidence in the systems they have.
— George Wallace (@backcountryMAGA) August 14, 2026
It would have stayed cheaper if the federal government had stayed out of it.
— SuperHeroHype ⚔️🇺🇸 (@SuperFroelich) August 15, 2026
Anyone who says 'free healthcare" should be ignored completely.

What a dolt Rogan is here. Shockingly bad take.

Rogan saying you want the sickest person to die, who could be very valuable if you could take care of them, reminds us of Michael Moore saying that we might have just deported the person who was going to cure cancer.
Who determines the cost? Does the government just write blank checks to hospitals or does the government force them to treat people for a certain price? Now you have introduced price control and a right to someone's labor and that is Communism
— Tyler Roach (@tylerroach98) August 14, 2026
The only way healthcare could be "free" is if the entire supply chain works without compensation for doctors, scientists, nurses, orderlies, administrators, janitors, truck drivers, etc.
— Pratap Reddy (@kughcumber) August 15, 2026
You can spend every billion available trying to keep people “healthy” and it still won’t work. Do you think a country that can’t define a woman can define health? National healthcare is just one more control and money laundering mechanism.
— Ojai Mohican (@StuGunner888) August 14, 2026
“Free healthcare”
— Winston Smith (@HereWeGoAga1n69) August 14, 2026
Nothing is free. You cannot create value from nothing. This is basic physics. Nothing comes from nothing. Free healthcare means government taking the cost of it from everyone by force and rationing it out. The result will be prescriptions of suicide like Canada
Gillis sounds like he's running for Congress as a Democratic Socialist: "Free healthcare is cool. We should have that."
