Screen Queen?: Filmmaker Justine Bateman Says LA Mayor Karen Bass Knows Nothing About Hollywood

The Hollywood Cinerama Dome is being renovated, and apparently Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is trying to take credit. The iconic movie theater is scheduled to reopen in early 2028. But filmmaker Justine Bateman says Bass won’t be the reason. Bateman says the Democrat mayor doesn’t have the slightest clue about how the film industry works.

(post continues) ...“would really help her out.”

What kind of idiot walks into a room of mostly out-of-work people, in an industry that is collapsing upon itself, that does productions with limited time and money where a mistake from an inexperienced worker can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and suggests that unskilled, perhaps drug-addled, clueless homeless people should be employed instead of qualified guild members?

This was just one of the many aspects of the film business of which she was utterly ignorant. It’s a complete fabrication that she “has been fighting for the film industry for most of her career.”

Complete fabrication.

Bass not knowing how something in the real world works is the least surprising thing ever. She’s utterly incompetent.

Posters say, despite this and her lack of knowledge about the film industry, she was put in office with the votes of most of the workers in Hollywood.

We’d guess that number is in the upper 90 percent based on reporting for the movie industry as a whole.

Commenters say Bass probably bases hiring the homeless to work for studios on an urban legend involving the late comedian/actor Robin Williams.

It was either her or one of her gullible aides.

Posters say Bass suggesting hiring the homeless proves she knows nothing about the training and skills needed for film production.

Well, her time in office has certainly been a disaster movie. So there’s that.
