In an early-morning, largely party-line vote, the Senate confirmed Todd Blanche as the 88th Attorney General of the United States.
In a narrow 50-49 vote, Todd Blanche was confirmed as attorney general early Saturday.

I am deeply honored by the trust and confidence President Trump has placed in me to lead the Department of Justice as our great nation’s 88th Attorney General.

I am grateful to the Senate for staying late to complete this process.

The confirmation was no easy task for the Republican-controlled Senate, as embattled Majority Leader John Thune had to overcome opposition from within his own party to get Blanche's nomination across the finish line.
Lisa Murkowski voted to confirm Merrick Garland and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

The entire post:
Lisa Murkowski voted to confirm Merrick Garland and Ketanji Brown Jackson
Susan Collins voted to confirm Merrick Garland and Ketanji Brown Jackson
Both of them just voted against the confirmation of Todd Blanche.
So sick of so called “Republicans” obstructing Trump while they were more than happy to wave Biden’s appointees through.
So useless.
Who needs Democrats when there are Republicans so willing to sabotage their own party's agenda?
Even with Murkowski and Collins' help, the Democrats failed to stop Blanche's confirmation, and they are not happy about it.
The leftist tantrum has been going non-stop since the vote was tallied.

This is a dark day for our democracy. Todd Blanche has been confirmed as Attorney General—but let’s be clear: he was not confirmed to serve the American people or uphold the Constitution. He was confirmed to be Donald Trump’s personal lawyer. He will choose Trump’s lies over… pic.twitter.com/I9azJMObvU

Spatacuus is really upset. Isn't he?
He's also completely full of crap, but he wasn't alone in expressing his righteous indignation.
Or being full of crap, for that matter.
It was a grave mistake for the Senate to approve Todd Blanche as the next Attorney General. If there is ever a moment in history when we need an AG above reproach, who is dedicated to ending corruption, it is right now.

This nation deserves an Attorney General who loves the Constitution more than he loves the President. Sadly, Todd Blanche is not that person.
While you were asleep overnight, almost every Senate Republican voted to confirm Todd Blanche as Attorney General.

From the start, I’ve been absolutely opposed to his confirmation because of his complete and total mishandling of the Epstein files, his history as Donald Trump’s…
Todd Blanche has been Donald Trump’s rubber stamp at the Dept. of Justice. He negotiated the corrupt payout for Trump’s political allies. He committed to going after abortion rights in “every state.” He is not someone we can trust to be independent.

As I said in his confirmation hearing, the fundamental problem with Todd Blanche isn’t that he’s inexperienced or unintelligent. It’s that he’s never been able to shed his role as criminal defense lawyer for Donald Trump. He cannot and will never do it.

Senate Republicans have handed Trump an excuse on a silver platter to keep up his pervasive, breathtaking corruption.

If you want to wipe out corruption, you can’t have the president’s personal attorney as the Attorney General. You don’t need a PhD in political science to know… https://t.co/RDOZaTGFkH
From Schumer to Schiff, the flow of liberal tears is enough to cause a flash flood warning in Washington, D.C.
It's almost as if these partisan putzes don't remember Merrick Garland or Eric Holder.
The wailing and gnashing of teeth wasn't limited to the elected. The statist influencers and media lapdogs got the memo and added to the tear-fest.
Around 4:30am, Senate Republicans confirmed Todd Blanche to be attorney general -- shrugging off his blatant corruption, his steadfast loyalty to Trump and his politicization of the DOJ in the months he’s been in an acting role.

BREAKING: Senator Cassidy is voting to confirm Todd Blanche as Attorney General.
— Ed Krassenstein (@EdKrassen) August 7, 2026
He will be confirmed.
Republicans have blood on their hands. pic.twitter.com/TBgtXvZ68Q
If the Huff Post and Krassenstein are against him, you know Blanche was definitely the correct choice.
In the big picture, the confirmation is a small but much-needed win for Thune and the Republicans. They also managed to pass a CR that will keep the government funded through December, but a vote to keep the Senate in session failed, and it will now take an extended five-week vacation, leaving important legislation, like the SAVE Act, hanging in limbo until they return.
Overall, Republican leadership in the Senate has been a disappointment, but at least they left us a river of liberal tears to sustain us until they get back.
