If you've been on X at all today, you've seen the incredible video of Tesla's new Roadster. If you have been under a rock, here it is.

Because I don't believe anything these days, I wasn't entirely sure it wasn't AI at first.
this is incredible and apparently is not AI. I just want a Tesla with FSD so this isn’t even something I can fathom

Once I was assured it was not AI by people I trust who were there in person, I watched it like ten more times in amazement.
@just_mindy It was not AI, I was there. The upside down part was what really got you.

Lately, I've been watching nonstop videos on TikTok of people who own a Tesla and pay for the fully self driving feature. I am a very anxious driver, specifically on the interstate. When I have to go into Orlando, the traffic is terrible and I'd rather take a beating than fight that mess. So, a car that would make all the decisions for me while I sat and watched seems heavenly.
Also, my mom is in her 70s and I know she is reaching the stage where her reflexes aren't what they once were. She has to drive 'into town' for her doctor every few months (she is a stomach cancer survivor and thankfully has been cancer free since surgery but has to have checkups every six months) and it would give me an incredible amount of peace of mind. I could set the address of her doctor in the car before she left and it would even park for her when she arrived. People say now that they've driven with the fully self driving feature, they never want to go back.

This thread shows the amazing power of the technology. Why wouldn't I want to do all I can to save the lives of my family and also save money?
The peace of mind that comes with driving a Tesla. As time goes on, you can do other things, including sleeping. 😊 https://t.co/tD9lKmxRSF

To be fair, right now, you can't sleep. That's a stretch. If the car senses you aren't looking straight ahead, it will give you a strike. After a few strikes, you lose the option for fully self driving. There are rumors within the next year or so, people will be able to allow the car to be fully autonomous.
I see Mothers who work all day saying they can now rest and recoup on their car on the way home or to pick up their children from childcare. They say it's taken away a whole stressor from their daily lives. That's a positive.

It's not all good news. People have to still pay attention currently. The technology will improve and maybe in a year or so, I can finally get my hands on one of those babies!
