Several months ago, I told you about an influencer who lost her son to a tragic drowning. At that time, I encouraged our dear readers to please take their children to infant rescue swimming lesson. Those lessons save lives. I wanted to revisit this story because more information has emerged. There are even more lessons the public can take from this terrible event.
I had to double check to make sure its real: Influencer Emilie Kiser's husband placed a $25 dollar sports bet at approximately the same time his 3 year old son was drowning unattended in their pool and he was supposed to be watching him

To be very transparent, I followed Emilie and I enjoyed watching her little family grow and I tuned in eagerly as they remodeled their new home. Their young baby had just been born when they lost their three year old.
The police report was released this week and the timeline is disturbing. Emilie went out for dinner with her girlfriends, her first outing since giving birth to her second child. She knows she left home at 6:02 because she was running 2 minutes late leaving. She arrived at the Mexican restaurant at 6:22 pm. At that same time, her 3 year old had just fallen into the family pool, and for the next two minutes, he attempted to tread water. After 2 minutes, he begins to drown and his father does not find him for another 7 minutes. All in all, the three year old was in the pool for 9 minutes.
His Dad knew he was outside alone playing by the pool. He admits that. He says it was not unusual and their child knew not to go in the pool unaccompanied. The problem is, Trigg (the 3 year old) did not enter the pool on purpose. He tripped on an inflatable, as toddlers do, and fell in. Brady (The Dad) said his child was only out of his sight about 3 minutes. It was 9 minutes, actually. Brady said he was tending to his newborn. He was actually watching basketball (there was a playoff game on) and making a bet on Draft King. Cell phone records and security cameras lay out the timeline and there can be no dispute.
That nasty man tried to say he was watching the newborn when he was placing a sports bet. He needs to be in prison https://t.co/8PN0KOqFtK

I was of the opinion initially, this was a terrible tragedy and nothing good could come of charging the father in this case. I feel differently now. He knew his young son was out by the pool alone. This is common sense. A small child should never be near a pool alone. Either bring him in the house with you and the newborn, or go outside with him.
Secondly, he told the police he was sitting in a specific chair watching Trigg. Unfortunately for him, the security cameras were fixed on that chair and he was never sitting there. He later said he was sitting on the couch inside. Then, he said his focus was on 'bonding' with a newborn and that is why he was distracted.
Cell phone and IP address data show he was placing a Draft Kings bet for $25 (he won the bet. The payout was a little over one hundred dollars. He and his wife are millionaires, yet he was so wrapped up in the game and the bet he lost track of his son for almost 10 minutes). The Dad admits the only reason he looked in the pool is their dog was standing next to the pool staring in and that was odd behavior. The dog was staring at his lifeless child.
Complete and total avoidable tragedy. Watch your damn kids especially when you own a pool. https://t.co/CqRfxbeQS0

Many fans of this family had encouraged them to get a fence around their pool to protect their children, but they apparently did not like the 'aesthetic'. Instead they chose a net for over the pool, but later admitted they often left it off. They also did not have working alarms on the doors leading out to the pool, not that it would have helped in this instance as Dad knew he was playing by the pool.
@esaagar I have six kids. I literally have never chosen to buy or rent a home with a pool for this very reason. The amount of money I would invest to keep these kids from accessing that pool without my supervision is astronomical.

I am sure this guy wants to just die. He can…
I know this Dad is grieving and life will never by the same. That is punishment, but it's hardly enough. I also know if a babysitter or nanny had left the child alone by a pool for 9 minutes, and then lied about what happened until the police reviewed the footage, they would be prosecuted.
Parents also have a responsibility to keep their kids safe. Please get infant survival swim lessons for your child, make sure there is a pool gate and the doors have alarms. It's the least we can do to protect our kids.
