'Conducted at the behest of the Justice Dept.': Fmr Bush AG Mukasey discusses Trump's wiretap claims

Former U.S. attorney general under George W. Bush Michael Mukasey weighed in on the claims made by President Donald Trump that former President Barack Obama tapped the lines in Trump Tower. He says while Trump was not correct that Obama himself would have ordered the wiretaps, he is right that there was surveillance of Trump Tower and that it was conducted at the behest of the Justice Department. Here is the clip of that statement.

Here is the full interview that former AG Mukasey had with ABC’s Martha Raddatz.

His remarks prompted White House press secretary Sean Spicer to tweet about the interview.

Interestingly, the only clip of this interview the @ABCPolitics account deemed worthy of promotion was when Mukasey said a wiretap “means there was some basis to believe that somebody in Trump Tower may have been acting as an agent of the Russians.”

And the headline that ABC put with the story of Mukasey’s interview read, “Former Bush AG: Wiretap would mean suspicion of someone acting as Russian ‘agent’.” It’s all about how they choose to frame the narrative.
